On the 19th December 1958 Albert Reynolds marched smarty into the governor’s office. He stood to attention as Colin Sarin read his file.

“Name and number for the Governor said the screw, who stood less than a foot away from the prisoner.’

“Reynolds 42930 sir.’

“I see you have been at this prison for two years now Reynolds. Do you feel that you are ready to go out into society as an upstanding pillar of the community?’

“Yes sir, I do sir.’

“You would have been released a lot sooner if you had not taken matters into your own hands. The law is the law Reynolds and you must adhere to it or you will spend the rest of your miserable life behind bars in one of Her Majesty’s Prisons.’

Albert stared at a picture of young Queen Elizabeth the second on the wall in the office belonging to Colin Sarin.

There was an uneasy silence in the room as Colin Sarin filled out the paper work.

“I am recommending that you be released on licence Reynolds; you will leave this establishment on the 23rd of December 1958 at 8 a.m. You will be spending Christmas with your family I take it?’

“Yes sir.’

Good, make this a time to reflect, you are now twenty years of age and still have the rest of your life ahead of you.’

“Do you have a job to go to?’

“Yes sir, my uncle has a furniture removal business. I am going to work for him.’

“Very well, make sure that you stay out of trouble, dismissed.’

Reynolds turned smartly then left the governors office he was led back to his cell where he told his cell mate of his release date. He would be finally be going home in four days time.’

Albert paid one of the trustee’s to give a message to Butch and Danny that he was being released. Four days couldn’t come quick enough.’ He went to work that morning with a spring in his step. It would be the longest four days of his sentence. Time passes slowly in prison. You try to forget all about it, as each day is like a week and each week like a month. The four days he had left to serve would seem like an eternity.

It didn’t take long before “Nasty Nick Collin’s” found out about his release date. After he and his accomplices had been released from the hospital wing when Willie Neil and his henchmen had set about them all and slashed his ball bag that had nearly killed him. Nick spoke to the other’s who wanted revenge on the fat little bastard who had put them all in hospital. They had four days in which to get him. More than enough time thought Nick.’

He watched and he waited; it would only take a few minutes to carry out his plan.’

Reynolds was full of himself knowing he was going home. His mind was focussed on walking out of those prison gates in one piece.

“A note came back through the trusty warning him that Nasty Nick was after him.’

He had to pay Willie Neil again to make sure that his back was covered before his release date.

Albert grew another pair of eyes as he watched everyone; he made sure that he was never alone for more than a few minutes.

Two days passed he only had one more night in this God forsaken place, one night before he would be free.
