Bittersweet

Mettaton is hot, popular, and according to most people, flawless.

But he has a secret that might change that.

A secret that's not safe with anyone.

Or so he thinks.

3. Stupid

What the hell is wrong with me?

I've been taught my entire life how wrong it is to be gay. By my parents, by my other family, by my friends at school.

How did I turn out like this? How did I turn out so wrong?

"Are you even listening?"

That boy, Papyrus. It's all his fault isn't it?

"Of course I am."

"Really? Who are Emma and Jo?"

"Uh, they're married, right?"

He smiles a little, like he's holding back laughter.

"They're sisters," he says, now he's really laughing.

I try to glare at him but I feel myself blushing. I can't even think straight around him.

"We're never going to get this done if you don't pay attention."

He hates me. He has every right to.

I can't help but be mean to him. Everyone is. If anyone sticks up for them people will assume they're gay too. I can't have people do that to me. I'll lose all my friends. I'll lose all my popularity. It's not just that, I swear, I'm not being selfish.

If my parents find out, I'll lose my home.

"You're still not listening, are you?"

Oh. He's right. I'm horrible at reading and listening.

I really am an idiot.

"Sorry," I say. He must not think I mean it because he closes the book.

"What are we going to do?" he says, "I can't do the alone and you can't read this book."

"Look," I say, trying to be as serious as possible, "I can't think at all today. I'll download the audiobook or something. I'll listen to it before tomorrow." I get up.

"I don't want to do this project with you either."
