Mettaton is hot, popular, and according to most people, flawless.

But he has a secret that might change that.

A secret that's not safe with anyone.

Or so he thinks.

1. Partners

Mettaton Blook is the most popular boy in school.

And possibly the most annoying as well.

Papyrus doesn't like him and never really has.

He's attractive, sure, but he's bitter and cold-hearted.

Papyrus sits at a desk in the middle of his English classroom. None of his friends are in this class, so he just takes one of the last seats on the left of the room. The seat is the farthest left, so it only has one next to it.

That seat is the only empty one when class begins. As soon as word got out that Papyrus was gay, everyone avoided him. Everyone but his best friend, Undyne, her girlfriend, Alphys, and Papyrus' brother, Sans.

The teacher has already started the lesson when Mettaton walks in.

If Papyrus is late, he walks slowly to the back of the room and tries his best not to make eye contact with anyone.

Not Mettaton, though. He walks in the room confidently wearing a crop-top and short-shorts. He's breaking the dress code in almost every way but the teachers seem afraid of him. They're probably more afraid of his parents, though. The two of them are rich and as stubborn and spoiled as their son.

He stops strutting confidently when he notices where he'll have to sit.

Papyrus stops staring at him. Everyone was staring at him, but it was different for Papyrus. They would assume he had a crush on Mettaton (which would never happen because Papyrus has standards and doesn't fall for spoiled brats) and the rumors would never stop.

Mettaton rolls his eyes, obviously trying to make it clear that he does not want to sit there.

"I see you've decided to join us, Mettaton," the teacher says.

Papyrus hopes she doesn't give him a detention, not because he cares about Mettaton, because he doesn't want the teacher to get fired.

"I'm already regretting my decision," he says casually, as if he runs the school.

The teacher raises an eyebrow but decides to go back to the lesson.

Papyrus shoots a glare at Mettaton.

He just smirks. He really does get everything he wants.

Papyrus listens as the teacher drones on about a project they'll have to do about the book they've been reading.

She mentions partners. Everyone in the class celebrates, except for Papyrus, who knows the entire project will be awkward.

That's when she says she'll be picking the partners.

Everyone falls silent.

Papyrus just hopes she'll let him be with someone who doesn't completely hate him.

She reads off a few names. Her eyes fall on Mettaton, who looks like he's barely listening.

"Mettaton and Papyrus."

Papyrus doesn't know what to think. Is the teacher really using him as a punishment? It's hurts to think that but it hurts even more to think that he's going to have to do a project with Mettaton of all people.

He just hopes he doesn't have to talk to him too much.

He hopes they can just get the project done.

Mettaton is glaring at him.

"It's not my fault I'm stuck with you," Papyrus hisses.

For a second he thinks Mettaton is going to tell the teacher that he's being rude but he doesn't.

Not yet anyway.
