The quarter are not even all that they are cracked up to be.  My dad owns and breeds racehorses for a living.  He is the most honorable man you will ever meet, never going for fashion if it can harm the horses, and never letting me not try things.  When he leaves for the summer mom is in charge and she wants me to be the perfect lady according to england’s society, and I try, it would make my dad so proud, but that’s not me.

The servant quarters are small houses with a fire pit in the middle and cot around the edges of the houses.  Five people live in these 9 meter by 6 meter rooms.  It’s not a lot of space.  These rooms are part of a brick building that run’s 90 meters by 6 meters.  There are ten doors and ten chimneys, each room is divided by brichs.  There is four of these buildings, four hundred places for people to live.  We only have two hundred spots filled.  Then there is the place for the more important people like, the stable magger, the head butler, the head cook, and our trainers for the horses.  This is more like a guest cottage then anything else.  Each day though no matter who you are or what your job is you get food.  Two meals a day, the same amount for everyone.  Even though the living conditions of the servants is not the beast it could be they are still payed one crown every four days.  And when one person in the entire place get’s sick, they are moved to a guest room in the mansion.

After the manager left I scooted on my bottom down the stairs.  Once I reached the bottom I just sat.  My head was reeling from all that I had just seen.  The boy had dark brown hair similar to mine, but unlike me he had a defined jawline and nose, compare to my pale face his was tanned from the sun.

I stood up and took a step.  My stomach did a flop.  I sat down again and hugged my gut.  A tiny part of me knew I had to get to my room and fack sleep till it was time to get up, and that’s the part of me I listened to.  I got up and walked across the lawn hunched over and hugging myself.

In my room I fell into the cool, welcoming, sheets.
