Stable boy

Sylva is alone in the world. She lives in a manor with her mom but still her mom wants her to live on high society. She can't, not with having to marry Hash in a year or with her love of horses. Then she meets Jane. A girl hiding in her stables, together they start on a journey to freedom.

35. 35

I woke to coolness.  It was nice, and soft.  I sat up.  I was no longer thirsty.  My head was clear.  Sylva!  Where was she.  My eyes shot open.

“Hi,” said a voice I knew.

“Get over here and give me a hug,” I ordered Sylva relieved.

Sylva grinned and did as told.

“So should I go get our host?” asked Sylva.

Thank you for knowing that I hate sympathy I thought.  Sympathy is such a waste of time and effort, why be spent time symfsysing when you could be helping.  “Go,” I said.

Sylva left the room and returned a few moments later with a man.  He was so old that he could have been ancient.

“I was already told what happened to the two of you,” he said.

“All of it?” I asked Sylva.

“Yes,” she confirmed.

“We would be grateful for a carriage and supplies,” I said to the man.

“I know you would, now convince me,” he said.

“We want to go to New York for scrolling, and we have both went what two or three days on almost nothing,” I said the added, “if we can do that imagine what is possible for us, miles of opportunities so many chance for us to make history and you would get the credit for getting us started”.

The man seemed to ponder this for a second.  I held my breath it was up to him now.  Tension passed between Sylva and I.

“Okay,” he finally said.

It was like a breath of tension that was larger than what had been in the room was realized.  We were free.
