“I heard Shara hung herself,” said mom when I sat down for supper.

“I know,” I said.

“Her trannie is your new hand maid,” responed mom.

“Do you not care about Shara?” I asked.

“It is proper for you to move on from attachment from a servant,” answered mom.

“No,” I whispered.

“What was that?” asked mom.

“No you are wrong, I will not forget my friends so fast!” I screamed.

“Lower your voice!” barked mom with a stirn ege.

“Shara you where the best friend you could have been!” I hollered.

“Quiet!” ordered mom.

I did not listen, I ran all the way to the seamstress.

I was in the servant quarters.  My feet were in nice shoes, not that I cared.  I opened every door, scanned the room and ran on.  People were sticking their heads out and looking at me like I was insane.  I did not care.

Then she stuck her head out.  I ran for it and jumped into a hug.  The seamstress stumble backwards in surprise.  Then she sank to her knees and let me cry in her lap, like I was a kid.  She rocked me slowly like my mom had once done.  I heard doors close as the other servant went back inside.

“What happened?” asked the seamstress softly.

“I can not, with, her, servant, mom,” I gasped.

“Slow down,” she said with calm authority.

I pulled away and looked her in the eye.  There was a gentleness there.  “Shara,” I said.

Tears started to roll down her cheeks, and she hugged me tighter.

“That was my daughter,” she whispered after a while.

We sat there in the dark, two morning people joined by the same person.
