Stable boy

Sylva is alone in the world. She lives in a manor with her mom but still her mom wants her to live on high society. She can't, not with having to marry Hash in a year or with her love of horses. Then she meets Jane. A girl hiding in her stables, together they start on a journey to freedom.

27. 27

Jane came up to me looking sick.

“What’s wrong?” I asked.

“Go look in the carriage house,” she answered.

I did, Shara had hung herself.

“Well?” asked Jane.

“That was gross,” I whispered.

“Well at least you are not having a fit this time,” said Jane.

“True,” I whispered.

“Why are you whispering?” asked Jane.

“I do not know,” I answered.

“Let us get the saddle on, oh and it is your turn,” she said.

“Great,” I said with butterflies in my stomach.

We got the saddle on in the dark.  It was almost impossible to bump into things, we knew the place so well.

Once we got on the track I mounted.  Jane was not holding the rope.  It was one of the risks we were tacking, not coddling the stallion.

I asked for a walk.  Reble did.  Jane was grinning like a fool.  We did several transitions, even switching direction on the track a few times.  Jane was right about riding reble.  It was a dream.  Again time stopped.  This time though it was not just Reble, it was also him movement beneath the saddle.

“Come on,” said jane opening the gate.

I led Reble out.  His dressage was amazing.

When I had to go Jane said, “keep riding, I will put him in the stall”.

“No that’s okay,” I answered getting off.

Reble sniffed my hair and huffed in it.

Jane and I giggled.

“Come on then,”said Jane.
