This story is similar to how things really went, but a few of the couples are different. The story is also told from many people's perspectives.

Yellow for death because of war and duels. Also the Reynolds Pamphlet was a thing...

Hamilton's POV

Lee was saying terrible things about Washington. I didn't want anything to happen that could ruin his reputation. I wanted to duel Lee, but Washington told me not to. So then Laurens offered to duel Lee.

It was the morning of the duel and I was the second for Laurens. They went through the proper duel ettiquette, and when it came time to fire, Laurens shot first and the bullet struck Lee. As we started to clear the field, Washington rode in.

He was saying things to Lee and Burr, but the fear of him saying anything to me made it hard to hear, until he called out my name.

"Hamilton," he said to me in a stern voice.

"Meet me inside." Oh great. I got on my horse and followed him back to his office. When we were both inside, that's when it began.

"Son," he started with. I hated being called son.

"Don't call me son."

"This war is hard enough wihtout infighting."

"Lee called you out, we called his bluff."

"You solved nothing. You aggervated our allies to the south."

"You're absolutely right, Laurens should've shot him in the mouth. That would've shut them up."

"Son," he started to get real angry at this point.

"I'm not your son."

"Watch your tone. I am not a maid in need of defending, I am grown!" Then I started talking over the top of him.

"Charles Lee, Thomas Conway, these men take your name and rake it through the mud."

"My name's been through a lot, I can take it."

"Well I dont have your name. I don't have your titles. I don't have your land. But, if you-" He cut me off in the middle of the sentence.

"If you gave me a command of a battalion, a group of men I could lead, I could fly above my station after the war."

"Or you could die. We need you alive."

"I am more than willing to die."

"You're wife needs you alive, son, I need you alive."

"CALL ME SON ONE MORE TIME!" I yelled at the top of my lungs. If he wasn't angry then, he was now. He didn't talk for a moment.

"Go home Alexander, that's an order from your commander."
