Christ you’re right said the young lad trying to make out Allan’s scribble in the dark.

“Look you had better give us fifty, we don’t want to have to drive all the way back again. How many Stereo’s do they normally take?’

“About a hundred at least I’d say.’

“You’d better give us a hundred units then.’

“Nae bother mate just leave us to it and we’ll have you loaded in no time.

The two lads set off and slowly and carefully the van was loaded.

“If you can just sign your name at the bottom of my invoice please mate.’

“You will also have to sign mine as well said he young lad who ran to the office and came back with a sheet of paper. Allan wrote his undecipherable signature on the bottom then shook hands with the two lads thanking them for their assistance. “I hope to see you in the pub down in “The Red Lion Birkenhead next time Newcastle is playing. “ First pint will be on me okay?’

“Look forward to it.’

“Aye Roger Hunt is some boy isn’t he said the old man.’

“So is Ian St John mind you; he’s had 21 goals this season and we’ve got Alfie Arrowsmith on 15 goals this season.’

“Mind you Barrie Thomas has 21 goals for Newcastle.’

“It will be an interesting match anyway said the old man. “Well lads we have a long drive a head of us so we had better be on our way.’

“See you again soon lads.’

“They gave the old man a lift back to the hut then dropped him off. He opened the barrier for them and they drove away.’

“Christ we could have emptied that place tonight if we’d had more vans.’

That was the easiest money I’ve ever made.’

“How much will we get for them?’

“At least £50 pounds each for the tellies and more for the stereo’s.

Allan was doing the math as Steven spoke.

“If we get £70 quid each for the stereo’s we are looking at £6.000 each.’

“Wow I could buy a new car with that.’

“You could even buy a house for £5.000.’

“We’ve hit the jackpot this time Steven.’

“Now don’t be soft with this bloke we are meeting in the Jungle.’ “Don’t deviate on the price start of at £70 each for the tellies and £100 pounds each for the stereos.’ He is going to come down on you on the price; let him, and when he reaches what we want then do the deal.’

They parked the van over the road from the Jungle Bar. They removed their overalls and placed them in the back of the van and then passed Manny Burgo who was on the door dressed in a smart black suit, white shirt, black tie and polished shoes. He looked the perfect specimen of an athlete as his huge shoulders filled the doorway. They went up stairs and went into the room where Steven had agreed to meet Dave Knox, better known as Knoxy to all of his friends who was also a well known fence for stolen goods.

Allan went to the bar and bought him and Steven a drink when he came back the deal was done.’

“When do we get the money asked Allan curiously?’

“Tomorrow said the man who didn’t introduce himself which Allan didn’t like.’

“Its tomorrow now said Allan looking at his watch.’

“Okay we can go and stash the merchandise away in my lock up garage then I will pay you how’s that?’
