The Marauder's Rising: The Forging of the Chain

This will be a seven-book series on the Marauders, incorporating a lot of the headcanons i find on Pinterest and through Google.

1. The Brotherhood Begins

Eleven-year-old James Potter ran through the yard of his large house, shouting.

"You'll never catch me, you'll never catch me!" he taunted over his shoulder.

Out of nowhere, Sirius Black stepped out from behind a tree in front of him and grabbed him around the waist.

"Caught you!" he shouted.

"Not so close to my ear, dude!" James laughed, shoving out of Sirius's grip.

The boys collapsed onto the ground under a tree.

"So." James panted. "Got your letter yet?"

"No." Sirius said bitterly. "My parents don't think it's coming."

"If it makes you feel better, mate, I haven't got mine, either." he said. "They just haven't sent them out yet. Dad told me that one year, they weren't sent out until the day before the last day of holidays. We've still got three weeks, they'll come."

"Let's talk about something else, okay?" Sirius asked.

"Okay. So, once we get to Hogwarts, to we play the good boys, or ultimate trouble-makers?" James asked, grinning.

"What, no in-between?" Sirius asked, also grinning.

"There is no in-between." James said, laughing. "We're either goody-goodies, or we're little trouble-making pranksters the teachers hate. Which one?"

"I'd rather be hated than be a goody-goody." Sirius replied.

"Trouble-makers it is!" James punched the air. "James Potter and Sirius Black, the biggest trouble-makers Hogwarts ever saw!"

"So, I've had a question since I met you." Sirius said suddenly. "What is the singular version of James? Like, Jame? Or, like, James. Jame. James as in plural. Jame as in singular. Can I call you Jame?"

"No!" James said, falling over onto his back. "James is not plural! It's just a name!"

"Don't be such a party pooper." Sirius pouted.

"Don't be so..." James smirked, "serious."

"Seriously?" Sirius asked.

"No, Jamesley." James smirked again. "You're Siriusly."

"Wow, dude." Sirius said. "You need to stop."

"You started it." James threw an arm around Sirius's shoulders, and the two boys lay down under the tree and looked at the sky, just like brothers.
