"I mean this sincerely with every fiber of my being, I find you to be vile and extremely repugnant. I have the most extreme contempt for you and I loath you completely."

With that said he thrusts forward towards Victoria, heated hostility in his eyes and a wood stake clutched tightly in his fist.

14. Chapter Twelve

Victoria lets out one of her ghastly guttural screams, she springs out of the bed. It takes her a moment to realize what I hold in my hand, the one thing that I am sure could kill her. I grip the stake once again with my thin fingers, squeezing it tighter. Her eyes become wild, she bares her long pointed fangs.

Quickly I run towards her, she pulls back her arm, she swings it out hitting me square in my chest. I fall backward onto the floor, the wind knocked right out of me. She is much stronger than I had anticipated, she quickly goes to jump for me, swiftly I pull myself off the floor. She is fast, indeed faster than me, but not as fast as the night before. Perhaps her power is somewhat drained during the day.

My heart throbs so hard that it almost hurts. Several more times I dodge her attacks, I can't believe my luck, it's a true miracle to have lasted this long without a scratch. She thrashes out, she digs into my flesh with her long sharp nails attached to her bony gnarled looking fingers. I feel a slight bit of hot blood run from my wounds, her eyes seem to fill with lust. She smells the blood, the thing she wants most in this world.

I must kill her, I can't let this soulless creature win, this is one fight I simply can not run from.

"Charles think about what you are doing. You won't win and you are condemning your sister to death."

"Shut up!"

I lash out at her with the stake, running it down her arm. It leaves a mark, but it quickly heals. She hisses at me, her eyes seem to grow darker as her anger grows. She jumps on me, she digs her claws into the flesh of my arms. I yell out in pain, I push her off.

"I mean this sincerely with every fiber of my being, I find you to be vile and extremely repugnant. I have the most extreme contempt for you and I loath you completely."

With that said I myself thrusts forward towards Victoria, heated hostility in my eyes and a wood stake clutched tightly in my fist. I push her up against the wall, I pull my hand back preparing to drive the stake deep into her black heart.

Suddenly she goes limp, "Do it. Like all creatures, I have a strong desire to live. But, death is not unwelcome either."

I feel something for her I hadn't before, pity. Pity and deep compassion. Maybe she hadn't asked for this life, maybe being an evil creature like a vampire was forced upon her. Some creatures feed upon other creatures lower in the food chain and this is what she does. I look at her, look deep into her empty eyes. How did this happen to you? How did you become this way? Why are you this devilish creature of the night?

She touches my arm, like as though she senses my questions and she must because she gives me the answers I want. Like being in a dream I see her memories, her power must work both ways, she can see my memories and show me her's.
