8. Idiot

Lily's p.o.v.:

During lunch, I joined Arthur and Molly. "What's wrong, sweetie?" asked Molly. "Nothing." I lied. "Don't fool us, Lily. Every Gryffindor knows there's something wrong between you and James. Do you want to talk about it?" Molly asked and I sighed. "Actually, this has nothing to do with James." I said; Arthur raised his eyebrow. "Then what is it?" "Not what, but who... Severus Snape." I replied. "Severus Snape? The Slytherin boy with his dirty hair?" Molly asked; I couldn't help but laugh. "Yes, that must be him. Since we were kids, we were best friends. Well, till last year I guess. He and James are practically enemies. I think he hates me because I chose James. But I gave Severus a chance. It was me as a friend or the Dark Arts. And yesterday, he blamed me for it." I told Molly and Arthur. It was actually a huge relief to tell someone else about it. Then, an owl delivered a letter. I guess it's James' owl. I took the letter but I didn't open it. "It's from James, isn't it?" guessed Molly. I just nodded. "You could just read it. I don't think it's a howler. Besides, I guess this is just his way to reach you." Arthur suggested. I sighed and opened the letter. As I read the letter, tears were falling down my cheek. "I should probably talk to James." I mumbled; Molly and Arthur nodded as I was looking for James. He sat on the other side of the table with his friends. They stopped talking when they saw me. "We need to talk, don't we?" I asked; still crying. James nodded and he stood up. I noticed most of the students were watching us. "C'mon, let's go somewhere else." He whispered in my ear. I followed him as he brought us to the Common Room. It's not the most private room, but as everyone is in the Great Hall, we were alone there. We sat down in one of the chairs near the fire. "What changed your mind?" James started the conversation. "Your letter. You're right... And I'm sorry." It was silent for a moment. "You know, none of this is your fault." James whispered. "How? How can it not be my fault?" I asked James. "Look, I know that you and Severus have been best friends for years. But he has changed. Not you." James gave me some time to think about this. "Remus said this to me as well." I mumbled; James smiled. "What?" I asked. "I know. Those are his words. That might have been what we were talking about until you arrived." James smiled sheepishly. "I just thought, if we told you often enough, you'd believe it eventually." added James. "You're not alone, Lily. You've got me... and Remus. Molly and Arthur." James stopped talking. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Nothing." he said. "Yes, you paused when you added Remus; why?" Now, James sighed. "I don't know, okay! Since we're fighting, you two seem pretty close!" James suddenly exclaimed. "And I don't want to lose you." he whispered. "You know you're an idiot?" I whispered as I kissed his cheek. "What for?" "For thinking I like Remus more than a friend." "You... you don't?" James stuttered. "Merlin's beard, ofcourse not!" I said and I kissed him. We stopped for a moment when he kissed me back; with more passion. Someone walked into the Common Room. Well, a lot of people apparently because there was a huge applause. "What is this for?" James asked; to no one special. "For you and Lily ofcourse!" Sirius answered; as if that was so normal. He distributed lots of Butterbeer. "I don't even want to know where that comes from..." I mumbled but I grabbed one as well and joined the party.
