The Girl in Cell 3 (Triple Witching Hour)

Every day SABLE talks to her knight in shining armor, EREN. She says sweet words, tugging at his heart, hoping to steal it. But there is always a barrier between them - a prison cell door. EREN has struck a deal: keep her locked up and his little brother will be out of harms way.

Her cell is inescapable and her placement on death row rises fast. She aims to seduce him and have him break her out. But when truths and lies become one, can she deceive his heart without breaking her own?

48. Chapter 47 - Sable

Sable opened her eyes. She saw a figure leaning against the wall, her long hair covering her face.

“Alisa,” Sable murmured.

She breathed out and smiled slightly. Everything felt alright. Nothing had happened.

Sable sat up and heard whispers.

“...then we just have to find a way to get your handcuffs off.”

It wasn’t Alisa’s voice. She rubbed her eyes. Alisa had dark blue hair and her voice was warm and full of reassurance — like a mother. This woman had long black hair and it sounded as though she was conspiring with the neighboring witches.

“Zofia,” Sable said.

The witch turned to her and smiled. “You are finally awake.”

Sable nodded. She didn’t ask how long she slept nor if Zofia had slept. In the constant darkness of the prison and the changing rotation patterns of the guards, the flow of time became indiscernible; Sable had learned to simply sleep whenever she felt tired. Time became meaningless without an anchor.

“How do you feel?”

Sable took the bowl of water that Zofia offered and drank it. The cold water cleared the fog in her mind .

“I’ve been better — but I think we’ve all been better.”

Zofia chuckled and nodded.

Sable watched the guards walk past her cell. She sneered and sudden rage spiked her chest. She remembered how Eren pulled Alisa out of her cell. She remembered the cries and anguish. She remembered the pain when Alisa was tortured until she died.

Sable clenched the bowl. She would find Eren and she would take revenge. She would give him all the pain that he made Alisa feel. She swore to make him beg for death — but she will not give him that.

“Is something wrong?” Zofia asked. Sable felt her warm hand on her shoulder. And in that moment, Sable decided to tell the tale. She told Zofia about Alisa and how she was the first friend and ally she had in this prison. She told Zofia about how they planned to break out of the prison together and how Alisa conjured a plan that would make use of the intimacy between her and Eren.

Zofia listened intently and never said a word until Sable fell silent. Then Sable felt Zofia put her arms around her and her kind voice whispered into her ear: “I know I can’t replace Alisa, but I’m here now. We can work together and take revenge for everything they have done to us.”

Sable smiled slightly.

“Do you have a plan?” Sable asked.

“I was talking to the other witches,” Zofia said. “I think if we can get a message out to the Witch Council, then there might be a chance that they will send out their strongest witches to King’s Pride to rescue us.”

“The Witch Council?” Sable tilted her head slightly. Alisa too had mentioned this before. Every witch seemed to know what this was — except her.

“You don’t know about the Witch Council?” Zofia asked, but continued before Sable could answer. “It doesn’t matter. What matters is that if we can get the gransia handcuffs off, then we can contact the Witch Council.”

“If we can get the handcuffs off, we can break out without any help,” Sable said.

Zofia raised an eyebrow. “How so?”

Sable told Zofia about how she first arrived at this prison, a witch had managed to get the handcuffs off somehow and blown away the cell doors. But she was caught by the guards before she could escape.

“That is very interesting.” Zofia put her hands together and Sable saw that her eyes glittered with — what was that? Zofia’s face was lit with silent fury.

“There is something else I want to ask you...,” Sable said.

“While I was asleep, did I say anything?”

Zofia turned to her, all fury gone. Instead, her expression was one of intent interest.

“What do you mean?”

“Well...” Sable told her about how Alisa had told her that when she fell asleep, sometimes it sounded as though she talked in her sleep, and that Alisa said that her voice changed when she slept.

“Alisa told me that the magic she felt at that time wasn’t the magic of a witch, but...”

Sable swallowed, afraid to utter the words.

“But?” Zofia urged her.

“...the magic of a demon.”

Zofia opened her mouth, but before she could say more, a door at the end of the corridor opened. Steady footsteps echoed down the corridor. They did not belong to Eren. No, these footsteps were heavier and carried an air of authority.

The man stopped before Sable’s cell.

Sable looked up. She knew this man.

Zofia smiled slightly. She licked her lips.

“Reinhard,” Zofia murmured.
