The Girl in Cell 3 (Triple Witching Hour)

Every day SABLE talks to her knight in shining armor, EREN. She says sweet words, tugging at his heart, hoping to steal it. But there is always a barrier between them - a prison cell door. EREN has struck a deal: keep her locked up and his little brother will be out of harms way.

Her cell is inescapable and her placement on death row rises fast. She aims to seduce him and have him break her out. But when truths and lies become one, can she deceive his heart without breaking her own?

40. Chapter 39 - Eren

Eren rushed back to the barracks, up the stairs and opened the door to Officer Reinhard’s office without knocking.

He saw Reinhard sitting behind his desk, but what caught his eye was Zofia; she sat on her throne of knowledge, balancing a little floating flame on one hand, and using her other hand to have books fly from Reinhard’s shelves to her.

Eren took a sharp breath. He stopped in his tracks. He had his suspicions, but this—

“You are a witch?” he asked.

Zofia turned to him with utter surprise on her face. She then looked at Reinhard.

“You’ve never told him that I was a witch?”

Reinhard shook his head. “I prefer not to tell others.”

“No matter,” Zofia said. “For what I have in mind Eren will have to know my true identity anyway.”

Zofia got off her throne and closed the distance between her and Eren. He took a step back. What was going on? Was he going to die?

“Who are you?” Eren asked.

“There is no need to be so afraid,” she chuckled. “I have never lied you; I’ve just never told you the fully story.”

She was so close to him that he could see the mad sparkle in her eyes. He could almost smell the magic in her breath.

“I truly work for the Church of Valor,” Zofia said. “I am a priestess who is held in high regard.  I know all the prayers and chants and I have read the Book of Light and memorized it.”

Her eyes smiled. “Truly, you humans have invented some entertaining stories to explain the injustices in life. How foolish of you all — but what is a lie for the mind can save the soul a lifetime of suffering.”

“But just now — “

“Yes, I am a witch,” Zofia said plainly. And then she added with a dark chuckle: “And imprisoning witches was my idea.”

Eren said nothing. Zofia poked his chest. “Of course, the fact that I am witch won’t be a problem, right?”

Eren swallowed. What could he even say? If he disagreed now, he was sure that he would be killed on the spot, or worse…

“There won’t be a problem.”

“Good, because I need your help with what I have in mind for the lovely witch you like talking to.”

Eren waited.

“I want you to imprison me with the others witches. I will then use my identity as a witch to lure out information about the location of other witches. We still don’t have nearly enough of them.”

For a moment, Eren was impressed. It was a deceptive and diabolical plan.

“And the reason why I had Reinhard order you to take Alisa away was because I want you to put me in the same cell she was in.”

Zofia smiled knowingly, as though she was aware of affections in his heart even he knew nothing of.

“Yes, the witch with the green eyes is an interesting one,” she purred. “I will start with her...I have a feeling that she will have something very...useful, let’s say.”

Eren gritted his teeth. He didn’t like this. Not one bit. But what else could he say.

“Of course if you do as I say, there is a reward for you,” Zofia said. “Maybe I will tell you something about the Champion of Light.”

“And what about Alisa?” asked Eren.

Zofia shrugged carelessly. “She is an ordinary witch with ordinary magic and that makes her ordinary feed. She doesn’t really matter.”

Reinhard stood. “Alisa might still be useful,” he said. “I will see what information I can get out of her.”
