Not the Only One

"You're not the only one that thought you could change him," she said raising the gun to my head..... [© 2017 All rights reserved by Gabby W.]

2. Chapter 1

"You never get a second chance to make a great first impression."

Melissa's P.O.V

"Melissa. Mel. Mel!" my friend, Alex shouted at me, breaking me from my thought as I stared at the most beautiful human on earth. Mr. Liam Payne. She looked into the direction I was looking and rolled her eyes. "Don't even try. He is one of the hardest guys to impress. And when you do he will just break your heart. That happened to a friend of mine," she added. I just nodded and kept staring. She sighed. Then he saw me staring.

"Oh crap!" I whispered as I looked away. Before I did I saw him smirk at me. "Did your friend ever tell you how to win his heart because I'll take the chance," I replied. Alex rolled her eyes again.

"Please don't get involved with Liam Payne," she begged. I sighed.

"Okay! Okay! I won't!" I promised. I felt a tap on my shoulder. Behind me stood Liam.

"I'm sorry to interrupt but I saw you staring and well I wanted to know if I could get your number," he asked. I thought I was going to melt inside. He smelt so good! I looked over to Alex and she came me the 'you better not do what I'm thinking you are about to do' look.

"I'm sorry. I can't," I told him. He frowned but then smirked again.

"Well," he placed his hand on my coat that was behind my chair. "If you change your mind. Let me know," he finished and walked away.

"I'm proud of you," Alex said with pride.

After we were done, I headed back to work while Alex went to meet with her boyfriend. I reached into my pocket for my keys but felt a piece of paper. I got it out and looked on it. On it want Liam's number, call me sometime :),  written on it. I smiled. I got his number after all.

"And the rest is history," I ended. I was telling my new co-worker the story of me and Liam as we ate lunch together. We went out a couple of times but mostly did 'it' when we had the chance. I ended it. I wanted to get serious and I knew Liam didn't.

"Wow. He sounds like he was a great guy," Harper joked. I giggled. "Wait. Isn't that him?" she asked, pointing at someone. I looked at me and she was right. A couple of tables down was the guy I thought I would never see again. Mr. Liam Payne. I turned back to Harper.

"Just ignore him,"I whispered to her.

"Too late to ignore him because he coming this way," she replied. I looked back and sure enough, he was coming this way with that stupid smirk of his. I slouched down in my chair while cursing under my breath.

"Well, isn't this a surprise?" Liam chirped as he sat in the chair between us. He took a sip out of my sweet tea as he smiled sweetly at us both. "What are you girls talking about?" he asked and put my glass down.

"Girl stuff," I answered. "What do you want, Liam?" I groaned. I really didn't want to talk to him after what happened.

"I need to talk to you," he answered as he stared at me. Why me? I thought.

"Why?" I asked. I really didn't want too.

"Because it's important," he insisted. I groaned again. A few people stared at me but I don't care. I got up and went outside without letting Liam know I was doing that. He got the hint and followed.

"What is it? You have five minutes," I commanded and crossed my arms over my chest. Liam took a deep breath and let it out.

"I want to have a second chance on... us," he answered. I was shocked. The Liam I remembered never cared about anyone let alone asked for a second chance. I don't even think he gave any girl a second chance if they asked.

"Really?" is all I could say.

"I know I hurt you and I promise I will do better. After you broke things off I realized what I wanted," he continued. This can't be the same guy I had a thing with back then.

"What did you do to the real Liam Payne?" I asked. Liam chuckled.

"Nothing! I am the real Liam Payne. I was such a dick back then and I'm sorry," he apologized. I thought about it for a long time.

"Fine! You have another chance. But I don't want to feel like I'm the only one that is putting an effort in our relationship," I sternly stated. Liam smiled. One minute he was smirking and flirting and the next he was asking for another chance and smiling. He is so confusing.

"Thank you so much!" he said and kissed me. I kissed back. That is what I missed more about Liam. His sweet lips.

"I better go. Harper is going to be wondering where I am," I interupted our make out session. Liam nodded.

"I better get back to my friends," he agreed. We walked back in. I acted like nothing happened when I got to the table.

"What was that all about?" Harper asked as she looked at me in confusion.

"Oh, nothing. Just wanted to see if you could get a friend's number," I lied. I didn't want to tell her about Liam wanting me back. To be honest, I didn't want anyone to know right now. They will probably think I'm crazy for forgiving him so fast.

"Okay,,,, Well, did you hear about that guy....." Harper went on. I zoned out thinking about Liam.

Before you ask, it's kind of like Fifty Shades Darker but without sex XD
