8. The Triwizard Tournament

Harry's POV

We walked along the train hallway until we found a compartment. I could tell Savannah was ready to be back. Ron closed the door and Hermione leaned out the window saying goodbye to Mrs Weasley.

"-yeah, I kinda wish I was going back to Hogwarts this year. You guys'll have a lot of fun," Bill was saying

The train started lugging forward as Ron leaned out the window.

"What's going to happen at Hogwarts?!" He shouted at them as we got further away

They just kept smiling and waving at us until we rounded the bend. When Ron gave up calling after them, he plopped down onto the seat with a small pout.

The door opened a few minutes later. A girl with short, medium, blond hair stood there. A Hufflepuff tie hung somewhat loosely around her neck. She had on our school uniform minus the long black robes. She looked at me with shy, big, brown eyes.

"Um..hi..I'm Addilyn, but my friends call me Addy," she said quietly, "d-do you think I could sit here? Everywhere else is full,"

Ron gaped at her with wide eyes. I think I heard him mutter 'wow' under his breath.

"Of course you can!" Savannah said sweetly scooting closer to me to make room for her

Addilyn sat down next to Savannah. She seemed really shy and quiet. She glanced at me and blushed when she saw me observing her.

The longer we rode, the more Addy seemed to open up. She was actually really funny, sassy, and probably as smart as Hermione.

Savannah's POV

The train pulled into the station as we burst out in laughter at a story Addy had just told us, about her cousin and a time he had been spray painting a shed and painted half his hair white!

We were all a little sad when she left us to sit at the Hufflepuff table during the feast. During the sorting, Hermione found out from Nearly Headless Nick that we had house-elves that made our food and picked up after us.

"What!?" Hermione and I gasped

"We have house-elves HERE?!" Hermione pressed a look of horror on her face

"Why yes, the largest number in any dwelling in Britain, I believe. Over a hundred," replied Nick

After that 'pleasant' conversation, Hermione didn't touch her food.

Before we all went to bed, Dumbledore rose to give his speech.

"So! Now that you have all been fed and watered, -Hermione growled a little- I must ask for your attention, while I give out a few notices. Mr. Filch has asked me to tell you that objects such as Screaming Yo-yos, Fanged Frisbees, and Ever-Bashing Boomerangs. The rest of the list is on Mr. Filch's door," Dumbledore's mouth twitched a little, " It is also my painful duty to inform you that the Inter-House Quiddich Cup will not take place this year."

"What?!" Harry and I yelled out

Fred and George looked outraged.

Dumbledore went on, "This is due to an event that will be starting in October, and continuing throughout the school year, taking up much of the teachers' time and energy. But I'm sure you will all enjoy it immensely. I have great pleasure in announcing that this year at Hogwarts--"

He was cut off as the door to the Great Hall slammed open and thunder boomed through the Hall.

A man stood in the doorway, a traveling cloak was wrapped around him, leaning heavily on a wooden staff.

I raised an eyebrow at Harry, but he just shook his head.

The stranger had a mane of grey hair, a chunk of his nose was missing, and his face was full of scars.

I gasped and clung to Harry's arm. It wasn't because of his scars. I had seen plenty of those in my life. It was his eye.

His eye was a bright, electric blue, and was whizzing around in its socket looking from person to person.

He walked up to Dumbledore and they spoke quietly before the man walked over to the staff table and began to eat some sausage, looking suspicious.

Dumbledore cleared his throat.

"As I was saying, Hogwarts has the honor of hosting the Triwizard Tournament," Dumbledore finished

"Your JOKING!" Fred shouted

"I am not joking Mr. Weasley. Although, I did hear a good one over the summer about a warlock, a hag, and a goblin that go into a bar--"

Professor McGonagal cleared her throat loudly.

"But perhaps this is not the time. In October, a small group of students from Beauxbatons and Durmstang will joining us for the selection of champions. Three champions will be chosen by an impartial judge will decide which students are most worthy to compete for the Triwizard Cup, the glory of their school, and a thousand Galleons personal prize money," Dumbledore explained

"I'm going for it!" Fred hissed from beside me

"Eager though I known all of you will be to bring the Triwizard Cup to Hogwarts, the heads of participating schools, along with the Ministry of Magic, have agreed to impose an age limit. Only students who are of age will be allowed to put forward their names for consideration.

"This is a measure we feel is necessary, given that the tournament tasks will still be difficult and dangerous, whatever precautions we take, and it is unlikely that students below sixth and seventh year will be able to cope with. I will personally be ensuring that no underage student hoodwinks our impartial judge into making them Hogwarts champion," I swear Dumbledore's eyes flickered over to the twins when he said this

Dumbledore dismissed us to bed. The Hall was filled with a deafening groan as everyone pushed out the benches.

Everyone else had gotten ahead of me as I took my sweet time through the halls.

"It's crazy isn't it? I mean why shouldn't younger students be allowed to compete?" A voice asked next to me

I jumped, startled, before catching sight of a face I knew so well.

"Taylor!" I screeched before embracing her tightly

"Hey, Savy!" She greeted me with just as much enthusiasm

Her dirty blond hair was pulled back into a loose braid, and her green eyes were bright.

Taylor Moore was a close friend of mine. Last year though, she had done all her school work from home because she and her family were on a LONG vacation in America. Somewhere called Las Vegas I think.

"How was V-Vagus?" I asked the words feeling weird in my mouth

Taylor laughed, "it's Vegas, silly! It was great!"

"I missed you!" I said happily

"I missed you too! So catch me up," she demanded playfully

I told her about all the events of the previous year, and she told me about her trip. By the time we were all caught up, we were at the portrait hole.

"So, are you ready to get back on the Quiddich Pitch?" I asked her since she was my fellow Chaser

"Oh you know it!" She shouted punching the air

"Wait. No Quiddich this year!" She groaned

"Well we can still go to the pitch and play against some of our other friends," I reasoned

"But it's not the same," Taylor said with a fake pout

"Come on! Let's go say hi to the others!" I said pulling her into the Common Room

Hermione squealed when she saw Taylor and hugged her while Harry and Ron greeted her from two chairs next to the fire.

I went and sat on Harry's lap while Taylor and Hermione sat on the couch. We all stayed up late talking and laughing. By the time we started to head to bed it was just after midnight.

"Goodnight Harry, Goodnight Ron," I yawned as I walked through the door of the girls dormitory

I heard them call back as I opened my truck to change. Taylor came in soon after, followed by Hermione.

"Just say it all ready," I grinned sheepishly from my bed at Taylor

She had been smirking at me since I sat down with Harry.

"Told ya so!" She sung before flopping down on her pillows

I smiled and snuggled down under the blankets listening to an owl hooting in the distance.
