16. The Goblet of Fire

Savannah's POV

I lay in my bed staring up at the red canopy of my bed. Taylor had told the Drumstrang boy that we would have to wait until next weekend to meet up. She even canceled her plans with Christian.

For me. I don't know what I did to deserve a friend like her.

She was sitting with her back against my bedpost.

"Sav? Tonight Dumbledore is drawing the champions. Do you want to come with me?" Taylor asked after a while

"Sure. Why not? It's not like I have anything better to do," I muttered

"Let's head down than. I told Fred and George to wait up," she said, a smile on her face from my agreement

I hadn't gone to breakfast or lunch today. I hadn't stop crying until about an hour ago.

He broke up with me. The love of my life. We were over. And I hadn't seen him since he ended it last night.

My throat ached, my eyes stung, my heart throbbed. What had I done wrong?

We walked down into the common room, and met my two favorite Weasley's.

"Hey, sis!" Fred called, smashing me into a bear hug

"Great to see you!" George added, joining the hug from the other side

I couldn't help smiling at the two of them.

We made it down the the Great Hall right as the food appeared. Everyone ate rather quickly, and eagerly waited for Dumbledore to stand and announce the champions.

At long last, the plates cleared and Dumbledore rose.

"Well, the goblet is almost ready to make its decision," Dumbledore said, "I estimate that it requires one more minute. Now, when the champions' names are called, I would ask them to please come up to the top of the Hall, walk along the staff table, and go through into the next chamber where they will be receiving their first instructions,"

Dumbledore waved his wand and all the lights went out at once, with the exception of the candles in the pumpkins.

The Goblet of Fire shone brightly, everyone leaned forward off their seats to get a better look. Suddenly, the goblet turned red. Sparks flew from it. A charred piece of paper flew out.

I gasped as Dumbledore reached out and grabbed it.

The champion for Drumstrang, shall be Victoe Krum!"

The Hall burst out into applause as Krum stood up and walked into the chamber.

A second piece of parchment flew out a few moments later.

The champion for Beauxbatons, is Fleur Delacour!"

Once again the Hall started cheering.

Once more, a piece of parchment flew out of the goblet.

"The Hogwarts champion, is Cedric Diggory!"

Every Hufflepuff in the room stood and started stomping their feet and creating as much noise as possible. The applause for Cedric went on for some time, and it was quite a while before Dumbledore could make himself heard again.

"Excellent! Well, we now have our three champions. I am sure I can count upon all of you, including the remaining students from Beauxbatons and Drumstrang, to give your champions every ounce of support you can muster. By cheering your champions on, you will contribute in a very real-"

Dumbledore was cut off by the appearance of more red flames.

With a puzzled expression Dumbledore grabbed the piece of parchment from the goblet.

There was a long pause while Dumbledore stared at the piece in his hands.

He finally called out, "Harry Potter"

I let out a gasp of horror. Not Harry. Not Harry!

The twins looked at each other while Taylor said, "It's not possible,"

I looked down the table where Harry was sitting with Ron, Hermione, and Addy. He looked confused. Dreamlike in fact.

"Harry Potter! Harry! Up here, if you please!" Dumbledore called again.

I watched as Harry stood up, and walked to the front of the room, finally disappearing into the chamber.

Everyone erupted into speech at once.

"How'd he get in?"

"He's too young!"

"It's always Potter, isn't it?"

"There's no way he could've put his name in!" I said numbly

Dumbledore finally dismissed us all to our common rooms. While everyone else was preparing the celebrate in the common room, I went straight up to my room and sunk into the comforter of my bed.
