"Nobody's Child" Cassie is an eleven year old girl who has been in a children's home since she was four years old. Very bright, Cassie excels in most subjects and can play Brahms and Mozart on the piano at the age of only six. Because of her age nobody wants to adopt her. and headed into the big market where they ordered a couple of pints and this crowd of men were taking the micky out of their brummy accents.

Beefy to offence to this and went over and asked the mob to be quiet or he’d sort them all out. Beefy was then a prop forward for the police rugby team and his sheer muscle mass would have scared to death many a man but these lot fancied their chances because there was ten of them and the biggest was about six feet two and about fourteen stone.

Let’s get out of here said Tim after he’d finished a pint of double diamond.

Beefy told Tim that he’d see him outside and that he was just going to the heads.

The next minute all hell let loose and beefy was decking anyone who came at him.

He literally picked one man up and threw him across the bar. Glasses half empty shattered as Beefy knocked another flying over a table. By the time he come outside the men who had started the trouble were lying around the floor unconscious.

Beefy pulled up the collar on his black leather jacket then thrust his huge mitts into his pocket and winked at Tim who knew that his pal had taken care of them all.

“I can’t take you anywhere do you know that.’

“It wasn’t my fault said Beefy as they jumped into a taxi and headed home.

Beefy leaned over to the table that Don was sitting on and put his huge paw on his shoulder.’

“Come on Mr Delap make this easy on yourself and tell us what you have done to this girl.’

“I want my phone call; I know my rights.’ Either charge me or let me go.’

Have you done anything that you’re ashamed of then; have you touched that little girl. Is that how you get off?

“Don ignored the verbal assault just as Harry had told him to.’

The questions and abuse continued and at the end of it Don didn’t know where he was; his head was spinning.

They took him to a room where they took his picture and then took his finger prints.’

He was then led to the down a passage and placed in the eight by six cell; the door slammed shut at he now knew how a convicted man must feel when they send him to prison. The impending doom suddenly hit him and he began to cry.

Other men who were banged up for drunk and disorderly shouted abuse as Don asked to be let out and that he was innocent of any crime.

“We’re all bloody innocent in here you daft bugger didn’t you know.’

Don sat on the hard mattress with a grey blanket with his back to the wall there was a plastic pot in the corner of the room and some Izal medicated toilet roll on the floor.

The stone floor was cold and the room seemed to echo as he got up and walked around in his bare feet because they had taken his shoes and socks as a precautionary measure they said.

Some prisoners who were convicted of murder and child sex crimes stuffed their socks down their throats in an effort to kill themselves. Or used the laces on their shoes to try and hang themselves by tying two together and then wrapping them around their necks so tight it cut off their air supply. Death came in minutes.

Don was thirsty now and could have murdered a cup of tea.

He had been questioned solidly for over three hours; now they left him alone and he didn’t know what was worse being shouted at or left alone in this hell hole.

The shouting from the others continued throughout the night.

It was in the early hours that Don was awoken and Beefy and Tim returned.
