16. Chapter Sixteen

I watched as Luke pulled out his research and his maps from the last drawer in his desk. He threw them on his bed and opened every single book to the pages with the council on them. "Nothing you do is going to stop this, Luke. Xander and Lily are coming in thirty days to get me,"

"No, they aren't. They are not taking you,"

"You have to let them take me, Luke. If you don't, you'll go too,"

"Then so be it. I'm not losing you because of a kid, you here me? This is not our parent's life,"

"It doesn't matter. I broke the rules and I have to pay the consequences," he shook his head and flipped through another book.

"Luke, c-"

"Not now, Chloe!" Luke yelled. I shook my head and turned to Chloe.

"Something came up. I'm sorry that I'm making this about me and I'm sorry for making him angry. But in thirty days, I'll be out of your hair and you can have Luke for yourself. Until, you know, he gets migraines and becomes weak and dies, but,"

"What's going on?" She asked.

"It doesn't concern you!" Luke yelled.

"He's angry. I'm trying to block the emotion out so I don't rip your head off," I informed, stepping away from Chloe. The only thing with her, the main reason she's a pain in my ass is because she doesn't give Luke any space. She tries to help, but she only gets in the way.

"Exactly. Now, Chloe, leave," Luke said.

"What?" Chloe asked.

"Just do what he says, please. It's honestly for the best for both of us. Let me calm him down and you can have him all to yourself," she nodded and left us alone willingly.

"There's nothing! Nothing in these books! Nothing in the research!" Luke yelled, throwing a book against the wall, which, of course, put a hole in the wall and the book went flying across the hallway.

"Luke, calm down. You freaking out is making things much worse than they have to be," I said.

"This isn't happening. This can't happen," he whispered, sitting on his backside.

"I'm sorry, Luke. I really am. I wish I could go back in time and wish this all away, you know?" He nodded and leaned his head against the bed frame.

"Since this is all going to happen... I'm sorry," he said.

"For?" I asked.

"For being an asshole to you when I shouldn't have been. For not seeing the truth. For telling you I don't love you. Just... for everything I've ever done to you." I shook my head.

"No, this isn't a goodbye for us." I pulled my phone out of my back pocket and pressed the unknown number on my recent calls. This isn't the end. I still have thirty days but I won't allow that.

"You need to meet me at the park by my house. No later than three, got it?" I hung the phone up and stood. "I'll be back. Apologize to Chloe, would you?"

"What do we need to meet about?"

"Xander, I don't like being lied to. And I don't like being told what to do," I said, stepping closer to my so called uncle.

"I see, and what did I ever do?"

"Don't play the victim here, Xander. You know exactly what you did. All for what? To have me wrapped around you finger? To hear my sob story?"

"I couldn't tell the council because it would risk my job. It could get me killed. I could get killed from doing this right now,"

"I told you what you needed to hear. I held up my end of the deal with not telling anyone about Halle, but what about you? You broke your end of the deal."

"I didn't break it, I simply didn't agree to anything,"

I narrowed my eyes at him, "do you really want to test me right now, Xander? I am not in the mood to fight with you,"

"And I am? I left my job to come here, risking my life to meet with you."

"As am I," I said, as the bench across the park flew over and smashed on Xander's back, making him fall to the ground. "So, Xander, what am I going to do? Am I going to tell your secret about Halle to the council and make you go away or am I going to stay with my family because you held up your end of the deal?"

"Tell anyone about her and I'll kill you myself," he groaned. I nodded and watched as the trees blew rough. "How are you doing that?"

"I'm stronger than you think. So, what is it, Xander?" He shook his head. I nodded and watched as swing flew off of its hinges and made its way to Xander.

"Okay! Okay, I'll do it! I'll tell them!" The swing dropped to the ground in a swift motion, as did all the wind. "I'll tell them," he whispered. Well, would you look at that, I scared a council member.

"Xander, don't make me tell about Halle. I may hate you and want to kill you, but you are still my uncle and she's my cousin,"

"John! They're here!" I put my book down on the table and stood up, ready for the council to come and barge into my parent's home.

"Jacquline, Johnathan and Violet. We have come to an agreement," I took a deep breath and looked to Xander who was cleaned up from our meeting two hours ago. He stood properly next to the other council members. "After consulting and going over theories that our own, Xander Damon explained to us, we've come to an agreement that your daughter, Violet Isabelle Carson-Damon will not be put into our custody for breaking rules. We have heard theories that her son, Ryan John Carson is a savior and will be fathered by Lucas Robert Hemmings," I breathed out and smiled widely. I nodded to Xander who just looked at my mum.

"Still got some good in you," mum smiled as Xander stepped forward. I watched as the council closed the front door to the house.

"I wouldn't say good. I held up my end of the deal," he replied looking at me.

"Yes, you did," I whispered.

"And what was the deal exactly?" Mum asked.

"I would tell the council her story and try to get her to stay here and she... wouldn't tell about Halle," Xander said.

"Halle? How do you know about her?" Mum asked, looking over to me.

"Research," I replied.

"Well, Xander, thank you so much. Mum would be proud," mum smiled.

"Don't expect me to come to any family events. You go back to hating me and I'll go back to being in the council," mum nodded. "Jack, do you talk to her? See her?" He asked.

Mum nodded, "she looks like you,"

"Any pictures?" He asked. She nodded and pulled her phone out of her pocket. Since when did he get so puppy dog like?

"She's so big now. I haven't seen her since she was two,"

"I can arrange a meeting, Xander. I talk to Bianca all the time."

"No, no. It's safer if I don't. But, yeah. Stay out of trouble, Violet. And stop calling me," I nodded.

"John, take care of my sister, yeah?" Dad nodded and put his arm around mum's waist.

"And Jack, don't fall down," I looked up to him with wide eyes. Looks like we all have our secrets.
