A Court of Thorns and Roses

Feyre is a huntress. She thinks nothing of slaughtering a wolf to capture it's prey. But, like all mortals, she fears what lingers mercilessly beyond the forest. And she will learn that taking the life or a magical creature comes at a high price... Imprisoned in an enchanted court in her enemy's kingdom, Feyre is free to roam but forbidden to escape. Her captor's body bears the scars of fighting, and his face is always masked - but his piercing stare draws her ever closer. As Feyre's feelings for Tamlin begin to burn through every warning she's been told about his kind, an ancient, wicked shadow grows. Feyre must find a way to break a spell, or lose her heart forever...

10. Scene 10 - Tamlin's Hurt

A/N - Sorry about the quite short scene/chapter. It's just a bridge scene so not much material or storyline to get through, but it's till quite a powerful little scene. I hope you enjoy...

(FEYRE is writing on a piece of paper at the table stage left when TAMLIN staggers on stage, dripping blood everywhere)

FEYRE – Did you kill he Bogge?

FEYRE – You're hurt.

TAMLIN – (looking at the piece of paper FEYRE was writing on) What's that?

FEYRE – It's a map. I thought I should learn my surroundings.

TAMLIN – You can't write, can you?

(when FEYRE doesn't respond, looking at her lap, TAMLIN continues)

TAMLIN – No wonder you became so adept at other things.

FEYRE – Where can we clean up your hand?

TAMLIN – There's a small infirmary.

(FEYRE and TAMLIN walk down stage left steps, and TAMLIN sits on the edge of table at stage front, as FEYRE pulls a box of supplies out and picks up a bandage. She cleans his hand and puts a bandage on it)

FEYRE – Are you hurt anywhere else?

TAMLIN – No. Most of the blood isn't mine.

FEYRE – Is it definitely dead, then?

TAMLIN – It's not coming back, if that's what you want to know.

FEYRE – How come only you can face the Bogge?

TAMLIN – I'm strong.

FEYRE – All High Fae are strong, but Lucien can't face it.

TAMLIN – I'm powerful even by High Fae standards, but there are some even more powerful than me. Some out there that could…

FEYRE – Could what?

TAMLIN – Never mind.

FEYRE – No. Tell me. Some could do what?

TAMLIN – It's better you don't know.

TAMLIN – No, Feyre. I'm not going to change my mind, so just drop the subject.

FEYRE – (sulkily) Fine.

TAMLIN – You can't write, yet you learned to hunt, to survive. How?

FEYRE – That's what happens when you're responsible for the lives of others, isn't it? You do what you have to do.

TAMLIN – You aren't what I expected – for a human.

(TAMLIN stands up and walks up stage left steps and off stage left. Lights dim)
