6. What a strange world it was.

What a strange world it was

When I arrived I could almost sense the difference between my kind and the others. I assumed that kind of telepathy was a myth amongst my people but it wasn't.

My job was simple. Analyze the data from everyone else's missions and decide whether to go through with the invasion.

To do that I needed to find a safe quiet place. And I knew where to go- the traitor.

I knocked on the door to his abode and waited for a moment. This was their mealtime so he was probably preparing a local creature for consumption. What a strange world it was. When he opened the door I could smell the nutrients he had made for himself.

"Come in, quickly." He said in a small manner. As we spoke and I explained my situation he kept looking around nervously. Before I had the chance to ask what was wrong the holes to see outside with exploded inward. Some sort of alien tech must've done it. Before I had the chance to think much on the subject my hands were forcibly tied behind my back with some sort of cold binding and everything was dark.

When I could see again I was sitting in front of some sort of monarchy. A figurehead of the people, perhaps.

"What are your kind doing on my planet?" He asked loudly. It was as though his voice could echo on forever through the endless room.

"We have come to do research." I answered. Of course I knew I was lying but they couldn't possibly be so far evolved that they understood speaking something other than truth.

"That is a lie." His intelligence shocked me, "I will give you one more attempt to tell me the truth." I contemplated telling him the classified information but realized I couldn't tell him.

"I told you. Research. Our planet is low on-"

"Low on Fossil Fuels, I know the cover story well. But I also have information you want to invade. I can guarantee there will be no winning against my people." His voice never wavered, "Now tell me. Are you planning an invasion." He spoke with such authority I almost spoke the truth.

"No, Fossil Fuels are all we are after." I said. He looked sad as he called the guards closer.

"When will the Humans learn?" He asked as the lead guard lowered his gun to my head.
