12. The last man on Earth sat alone in a room, there was a knock on the door.

He was born on the way to the Earthlike planet- Exoterica hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth. At the time of his birth humankind hadn't developed light-speed-travel making him the 12th generation from the group of 2,000 that left Earth.

He was 10 Earth years old by the time the ship, The Starship: Pilgrimage, landed on the prebuilt dock atop Exoterica. The years would be longer here and everything was still unpredictable.

By the time he was 15 he had decided he didn't like planet life and wanted to travel the stars. He was all alone in the universe after his mother died and that really solidified his decision to travel for the rest of time.

When he was 18 he enrolled into the Aerial Navy and started life as an adventurer. After about a year he started to grow tired of never going where he wanted to. And left the Aerial Navy.

By 20 he was traveling around with a partner, whom of which he didn't trust, and he was part of the free trade association. His job was to carry cargo from one place to another, and to make sure no one was abusing the right of free trade amongst humans.

At 22 he noticed the shitty treatment from humankind to aliens and halfbreeds of the like. He ignored it for years until he was put in such a situation where he had to make his choice. Ignore his bloodline, or change save other breeds.

When he was 24 he was in the home of an 'uncle' of his mother who had a rather large home and several alien slaves. His 'uncle' was truely unkind to his slaves and treated them like animals, not self aware creatures.

"Uncle." He said as he watched him slap down one of them, "Stop. She meant no har-" His 'uncle' cut him off.

"Son. You and I both know if you let one screw up then they all start screwin up and then suddenly you're surrounded by a ton of shit." 'Uncle' said slapping the same slave's ass as she walked by. By that point he was sure this wasn't how to treat other creatures, human or otherwise, and decided now was the time to deal with it.

"Not to mention how cute they are when they cry." He chuckled slapping another's ass. This breed of alien in particular would turn a vibrant shade of green from their original dark grey when they feel pain. It really was a brilliant shade but he knew they didn't deserve that.

"Uncle, I told you to stop." He said. Of course 'uncle' never listened. This angered him. As his 'uncle' continued to mistreat every slave that went by his anger levels shot through the roof, "I swear to God if you don't stop." He said pulling his gun on his 'uncle'.

"Son." He started. His uncle grabbed one of the nearby slaves basically as a hostage.

He chose to save.

When he hit his early 30's he had settled down in a small town just outside the 34th Quadrent. He stayed there for nearly 10 years. The town was calm and peaceful. The same went for the residence, but everywhere he looked he still saw a great injustice. The buying of Aliens and Humans all across the galaxy.

In his town he ran for minister and won. Everyone wanted to see what the new guy was made of. Once elected he made the trade of living things illegal within his domain.

Once his time as minister was up he moved on to the next place and the next. For the next 20 years of his life he worked to eradicate the trade of human and alien alike.

Once he was 60 years old he had nearly cleared out all the slave trade except on his ancestor's home world-- Earth. He made his way there and soon realized the lack of Humans.

Over his years of freedom fighting he had noticed less and less full blooded humans but he thought nothing of it. But now he saw the truth. There were not many of his kind left. Suddenly his life felt more precious than ever before and his past murder of his 'uncle' weighed heavily on his heart. He then made a solemn promise to never kill another living creature again.

His life on Earth was the longest he had had yet. There was strong slave trading going on and once the Human race was being used for many things. So many things ranging from entertainment to lab rats. What he saw was disgusting but he fought as long and as hard as he could.

He finally retired at the ripe old age of 89. And as the last man on Earth sat alone in a room there was a knock on the door.

"Come." He replied. He was bored of his studying and longed for some conversation outside his own head.

"Sir?" His old traveling companion peeked her head in, "Are you doing ok? I heard the last of your kind died a few hours ago."

"Am I doing ok?" He scoffed. "Of course I'm not doing ok. I am the last of my kind, I'm at the end of my life, and I have no children to succeed me." His face fell into his hands. She was sad for him.

"Sir. Extinction isn't something anyone should have to face. I mourn for your species." She bowed and backed out of the room. He looked up at the ceiling and sighed. His life was nearing its end and along with it the end of the Human Race.
