16. My life began when the zombie apocalypse started.

My life began when the zombie apocalypse started. Literally. I was born to a zombie. Isn't that dumb? I was born to a dead guy. Of course since zombies aren't truly alive I've been living a thing called a 'half life'. This is rare but not unknown among the zombie community.

Even though my mother was a human she still wasn't strong enough to have me and live. It's hard to have a half dead child, ya know.

The day I was born was the day everyone realized almost all the world leaders were zombies. We were immediately hunted down until we were the minority. We hid for years.

I remember my dad telling me we had to move because someone found my pale skin and hair odd compared to my dad's dark skin and hair. It happened every two or three years.

I grew up just thinking I was pale and not dead, but when I found out the truth I started revolting at most everything the Zombie hunters would decide.

"The New Anti-Zombie Council has officially put into action the 'Life and Death' Act which entails the killing of Zombies to be completely legal even if they were born dead. More to follow at 11, I'm Tri-" The female reporter cut short after my dad turned off the TV.

"I'm gonna go out and get you some hair dye." He said standing up. He paused, "And maybe a spray tan." I would've been touched by his thoughtfulness but the warm feeling died out.

"Dad, dont get both. Just get me dye. And get blue, that way my frayed, dead hair looks bleached. If you get both then it'll look suspicious." He nodded and picked up his keys.

"Uh, start packing while I'm gone, ok?" He asked. I nodded solemnly as he walked out the door. I turned on the TV again and sighed.

For a world obsessed with Zombies and Zombie culture they don't want the real thing. Honestly, we eat brains, but not the brains of people, animal brains are just fine. Actually they're technically better for us. Animals carry less threatening diseases than people do. We could get cancer from eating your brains and yet all you care about is that our hearts don't beat, and that we're pale. Nevermind that we're the exact same as you just a little less technically alive.

After dying my hair I was back to normal life in a new town.

Boys ignored me, and I did the same. Girls were scared of me and I wasn't insulted. My life was lonely. Or, at least it was until I met him.

My Captain in the revolution.
