Reality (#1)

Sarah Grayson's life was normal. Average parents, average life, average everything. That is until she lets her friends take her to a party, where she leaves in tears and pain. Her life gets flipped upside down and the only thing that she can do is live with the side effects of her choice.

You may ask how this book is part of the 5 Seconds of Summer fanfiction, but if you'd be kind enough to follow, you'll find out.

Chapter Five:

“Where are we going, Diara?” I asked after we missed the turn to go into my street. Tommy was driving fast, Diara was in the front seat now. Bailey was on the phone with our dad right now. I tuned them out because I thought it was supposed to be private. Both her and I were in the back seat.

“We have to take you somewhere, okay?” she replied.

I yawned. “What time is it?”

“12:45, it’s officially 2016. What a freakin’ fantastic start to the year.” Tommy said.

“Okay, we’ll see you there. Love you, Dad.” Bailey finished. I stretched a little bit and started twirling around my purity ring. “Sarah? You good?”

“I wish people would stop asking me that.” When it’s so obvious I’m not okay and will never be okay again, I wanted to say.

“I’m sorry, Sare. This sucks. I mean well . . .” she trailed off.

She shook her head. “Sarah, what even happened?”

I could tell Tommy and Diara were listening, both trying to piece together their own versions. I looked to them in the front seats. Diara was fiddling with the sequins on her shirt, while Tommy was driving. He was constantly stealing glances with me in the mirror.

I looked to my sister, who was searching so desperately in my eyes to get under my skin. For her, I’d remember. So I tried.

The only thing I could muster up was the first drugging. So I told them that.

“I wanted to leave, so I ran out of the crowd. He grabbed me; I freaked out. He said he was Tommy—“

“I wasn't there!” Tommy said, anger burning in his usually pleasant eyes. “I was looking for you! I would never hurt you—“

“I know! Tommy. It wasn't you. You’re nice. He wasn't very nice.” then continued on. “He brought me into the hallway. Then his hand cam cup, it had something in it. A cloth maybe. That’s when I definitely knew it wasn't Tommy, his hands were calloused, worked, Tommy’s hands are more polished, nice. Sometimes, like now, Tommy’s hands have colored nail polish on.”

“My sisters enjoy polishing. I enjoy making them happy. Aiden won’t do it, so I do.” he justified. “Charlotte and Abigail were very happy.”

“Yeah, sure,” Bailey teased, and when Diara glared at her, she turned back to me. “So, what happened next?”

"That’s where it’s harder to remember. I awoke, tied up, in an room. I think we had a conversation. After a little while, he made me pass out again. Then there was you guys.” I told them.

Then we pulled into the hospital. I felt a sharp pain . . . down there.

So I passed out, I’ve never been very good with pain.
