Break On Me

"Maybe it's not about the happy ending.. Maybe it's about the story."

Sometimes it’s hard to accept what is, and it’s hard to go along with something even though you know you could do better.. But how come it’s so easy to slip up? So easy to say the wrong thing, use the wrong words, or even make the wrong moves? Sometimes we just all need to break.. in more ways than just mentally. I want you to know, that no matter what, I will always be here for you.. whether you like it or not, if you want me here or if you want me to live.. If you love me, or if you hate.. You can always break on me baby.

We loose ourselves in the things we love, we find ourselves there too..

61. Chapter 060

My hands are nervously shaking, my heart is racing at a pace I swear is faster than the speed of light. The waiting room smells like Lysol and bleach. People are staring at me like I’ve lost any sense I’ve ever had – that’s because I’m pacing across the room and speaking out loud to myself.
“Styles?” I hear my last name slip from someone’s mouth. My head turns towards the door and a sigh of relief leaves my body as I see the doctor I spoke to almost half an hour ago. He gestures me to come over to him and I don’t hesitate to start the trip.
Within seconds I approach him and begin rambling, “Are they okay? Please can I see my little girl. I-” I stop myself as I see a light smile on his face. Most doctors don’t smile when they speak to you after a horrible car wreck – but maybe, just maybe, everything’s okay.
“Katherine is fine. She has a few scratches, but nothing a bandage and a bit of Neosporin couldn’t fix.” He says.
“Thank God.” I breathe out the words as I place my hand on my chest, my heart feels somewhat better now that he’s told me my princess is okay.
“But.” He starts with a sigh that didn’t sound too pleasing. A gulp slides down my throat, but what? My mind dodges any bad thoughts of what could have happened to Emmy, but my heart absorbs all those ignored thoughts.
“We sent your fiancé to get a few tests done and a few scans. Turns out she has two fractured ribs, but they won’t take too long to heal. Two months at the most. However, she has a few chipped teeth, but I can send her to a dentist that can fix them in a short amount of time. She complained of her head and back hurting, so she’ll need to stay a day or two so we can get everything checked out.” He informs me of all of these things that could have been prevented if I had just controlled myself.
“Can.. can I see them?” I ask in a soft tone, I’m just trying to hold back everything – but I know as soon as my eyes see my baby girl there’ll be nothing I can do to stop the tears from falling again.
“Of course, but first I’ll take you back here and take care of those cuts. You don’t want them to get infected.” He tells me and gives me a motion of his hand to follow as he begins walking.

The doctor takes me to a room in the ER department. He opens the door and I feel a few tears leave from the corners of my eyes as I see my beautiful little girl in a nurse’s arms. Before I could even say a word, her puffy, red eyes landed on me and she pouted out her bottom lip.
“Da da da da..” She calls for me as her arms extend in my direction.
“Katie.” I whisper her name as I hurry across the room to her. Her beautiful blue eyes are flooding, tear streams down her flustered cheeks.
“I think she missed you.” The nurse says as she hands me my baby.
Katie’s head lands on my shoulder, her arms tucked between her body and my chest. I hold her tight against me, I’ve missed my little girl so much. I close my eyes as I gently shift my weight from foot to foot, rocking us slowly. I just want her to stop crying, I want her to know everything’s okay.
“Don’t cry princess. Daddy’s got you. Daddy’s here.. it’s okay.” I whisper into her ear as I held her little body tight in my arms. I’ve missed embracing her, I’ve greatly missed her presence.
“The police officer that first responded came by earlier. He told us to let you know he got all of your possessions from the scene and he has them in his car. He’s wants to meet you.” The nurse tells me with a kind smile.
“Okay, thank you.” I respond with all the strength I could muster in my body.
“I’ll take you to him.” She insists as she goes over to the door. I turn on my heel and trail behind her, holding my princess as close to me as I could.
“Officer Ballard.” She calls a name out and I see a man turn around. His eyes meet mine and I can tell he’s let his emotions out as well tonight.
“Is she alright?” He rushes over to us, referring to Katie I’m sure. I bite the inside of my cheek as I look him up and down, just trying to figure out what I could based on his appearance.
“Yes, just a few scrapes and bruises.” The nurse tells him, stepping over so he could get a better view of us. He steps forward and holds his hand out. I grab it and shake it firmly, not quite clear on everything yet.
“I arrived first on the accident. I ran over to the car and I heard her crying, I wasn’t sure whether you or her mother were even alive yet. But when I was pulling her out I heard you. I have three little girls of my own and I know the feeling of almost losing one as well. My first priority was getting her out of the car.” He informs me of his brave actions and I can’t help but thank God in my head for this man.
“Thank you, so much. You.. you saved my baby when.. when I couldn’t.” I admit to him, releasing his hand. “I could never repay you for this. She’s my entire world. Thank you, with all of my heart.. thank you.” I add onto my praise to this man for saving my child.
“You’re very welcome. Children hardly ever come out of accidents smelling like roses, and I knew I had to get her out before anything else. I believe God has a wonderful future for her, and he didn’t want to take her away.” He tells me.
“Thank you.” It’s all I could say, there will never be enough words for me to say in order to thank this man. “Thank you for saving my child. I looked away from the road because her mother and I were arguing and she was asleep.. I just.. I just wanted to make sure she was okay.” I let him know what really happened, the reason for the accident.
“I understand. Don’t blame yourself for checking on her.” He says, patting my shoulder with a light smile.
“Thank you again, sir. Thank you.” I say one last time and he gives me another smile before walking away. The doctor comes up to me and gestures for me to go down a hallway. I begin the distance and he walks beside me.

My baby girl's okay.
