The Lion who lost his Roar

A friend of mine who was really loud went away and came back so quiet and I couldn't understand.
This story popped into my mind

I see it as a children's book

1. Story

There once was a lion with the mightiest roar

All through the jungle his voice would soar

All the other animals would stumble and drop

Even the baby hippos would trollop and flop.

The lion is coming the Pelicans would sing,

All mighty and graceful, the monkeys would swing.

And so the lion, would strut through the bushes, head held high while the

Jungle saluted.

One sunny afternoon, while the soft wind blew,

the lion took a nap on a hammock,

‘shhh’ said the mothers to their flocks

The King of the jungle is a sleep don’t run a mock

He will soon wake said the elephants to the giraffe

And thunder will his roar though the plains and the grass.

But that day was a day like no other day

For when the Lions slumber began to slight
his eyes flickered open, shining and bright.

His arched his back and stretched his paws

Then opened his mouth wide ready to ….

But no sound came out not even a squeak,

And try and might he couldn’t even manage a peep.

Frulloped and tailwoged he walked around confused.

What might this be, what horrible lion blues.

‘aha’ he thought, it must be a drought for my voice is dry, that must be what this is about.

So, he headed to the nearest dam, but the rhinos and chimps playing around.

They all stopped and looked back at him quizzically, ‘that cant be the lion, why hadn’t he roared’

On to the dam, goal in sight, to drink some water and change his plight.

Past the parrots, the wombats and jumping Roo’s

Who all came to a start looking confused.

‘that cant be the lion, why hadn’t he roared’

But the lion didn’t look up for his goal was still in mind, to drink some water and change his plight.

On past the Gators in the creepy lagoon,

the hyenas and ferrets watched as he loomed,

The laughed and geared ‘a lion without a roar isn’t a lion to fear’

But the lion paid no notice, and fastened his stride to drink some water and change his plight.

There it was so juicy and pure the water he knows will be his cure,

Sniggles and sniggles came from his right,

All the animals had followed him to witness this might,

The hyenas hissed and the parrots snickered but the lion took a deep breath and gulped up some water.

And then just to be safe he drank a little more.

Then the jungle grew silent, waiting to see what would happen and what mightn’t

His arched his back and stretched his paws

Then opened his mouth wide ready to ….

But nothing came out not a sound not a tickle not even a purr.

All the animals drop and jeered and broke down with laugher,

‘A Lion who cant roar! Well that’s a disaster’

The lion grew sad and began to think ‘without my roar, I'm nothing’

And so into the woods he headed again, this time tired and sluggish again.

He walked past the homes of the lagoon and past the parrots and the roos.

Past the chirpy chimps and the rhinos, all through the plains and jungle he

Found himself back at the hammock.

He walked around three times and yawned then rested

For this little lions courage had well been tested,

Exhausted the lion slept tight, and did not stir all night,

when the Lions slumber began to slight
his eyes flickered open, shining and bright.

His arched his back and stretched his paws

Then opened his mouth wide ready to ….

ROOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRR
