Allan drove his red Triumph Spitfire to the hotel and parked it then went to reception he had booked in for a week. He got the keys to his room then went into the lift to the second floor, He pulled his case along on wheels to room 96 then opened the door he placed his case on the bed then unzipped it and took out his clothes that he would need for the rest of the week. Tomorrow he would ring an estate agency and find himself a flat to live in.’

He opened the small fridge and took out three small bottles of Grants whiskey then poured them into a glass and took a huge swallow, the whiskey burned as it went down; he needed it though to help steady himself. Looking over he saw the telephone and thought about calling Dorothy then decided against it. He took of his tie and shirt. Hanging them up on the chair beside the wardrobe then he took off his trousers and folded them before placing them on a hanger. He placed his shoes under the chair then took off his socks and got into bed. Sitting up he took another drink from the whiskey glass; He thought to himself what a mess he’d made of his life. Could he make a go of it with Dorothy he thought?

She loved him alright there was no getting away from that. He didn’t know how he felt about her. Was he in love with her or was he just in love with her beautiful body.’

“She certainly was beautiful, she walked into a room, and all the men would gaze upon her with a lust in their eyes. The thing was she made the play for him; He didn’t encourage her but she flirted with him. Allan being older thought a young beauty like her would have men lining up. How had she not got with someone; he finished his whiskey and thought these were the things he would ask her tomorrow.

He turned out the bedside light and went off to sleep.

Lunchtime was always busy in the Cannon there was workers from around North Shields factories who came for lunch and a quick pint; especially Dukes and Marks a clothing factory,

Allan ordered himself a whiskey then sat down and waited for Dorothy to arrive.

She turned up five minutes later and Allan got up and asked her what she was having to drink.

“Just a Spritzer for me thanks.’

Allan went to the bar and ordered her a drink then returned.’

“Have you ordered anything to eat?’

“No, I thought we could look at the menu together then decide.

“I’m not that hungry really; a sandwich will do me.’

“Could you manage a cheese burger with a side salad?’

“I will share one with you as I couldn’t eat a full one.’

Allan got up and ordered the burger and paid for it then returned to the table.

“So how are you she finally asked; you look like shit.’

“I told Angela about us.’

“How did she take it?’

“Badly as expected, she flew into a rage and was slapping me about. I told her that I wanted a divorce.’ “We also discussed everything about the girls too. “ She agreed that we couldn’t continue as we were.’

I’ve made an appointment to see Greg Charlton at his office tonight at 5.30 pm. I’ve told Angela to site adultery and that she can keep the house but she must pay the mortgage.
