“So Helen, now that you’ve had your first date with a mysterious action man; would you like to do this again sometime?’

“Yes I would as long as you let me go Dutch on the meal tonight.’

“I’m very sorry but I was brought up old fashioned I’m afraid and besides I don’t mean to offend you Helen but my salary is maybe five times more than what you earn.’ So please if you wouldn’t mind; let me pay the bill.’

“Thank you Robert for a splendid meal.’

“What about the company though Rob laughed.’

“Yes, that has been good too.’

“Would you care for another drink at the bar?’

“No thanks’ I’ve had quite enough for one night.’

Looking at her watch it was now eleven o’clock, she stood up a little unsteadily on her feet. “That wine has gone straight to my head I think.’

Rob took her by the hand and led her to the bar where he paid for the meal and left a tip for the waiter.

Once outside the sea air seemed to clear her head and she walked to where she thought the car was but Robert called her name because she was trying the door of another car.

She turned and giggled then walked purposely towards him then stumbled. Rob caught her in his arms then their eyes met in the moonlight. Rob lent in and kissed her softly on her lips. She closed her eyes and felt the softness of his lips on hers. He broke away then it was Helen who kissed him back, this time the kiss was more passionate and she found herself gasping after it.’

“Come on let’s get you home said Robert as he took her hand firmly in his and walked around to the passenger door and opened it. He helped her inside then she struggled to fasten the safety belt as Robert got in.

He leant across to take hold of the strap and Helen kissed him again. He held her in his arms, feeling the softness of her skin as his hands probed. She was now unbuttoning his shirt and Rob stopped her. “Helen the people inside will be coming out in a minute.’

“But I’m enjoying myself.’

“Look I’m not one for taking advantage of a girl when she’s obviously had too much to drink.’

“Let’s go back to your place said Helen.’

Rob fastened her seatbelt then wound down the window a crack to let in some fresh air.’

Rob drove carefully along the coast as Helen chatted away.’

“He looked over at her briefly and she looked so beautiful then he saw the lights in his mirror which almost blinded him. the car moved steadily closer and Rob was forced to increase his speed they passed the Beehive pub at Whitley bay and the car pulled along side and tried to force him off the road.

Rob swerved then drove on. He was now doing over ninety miles an hour and Helen realised that they were now in imminent danger and she loved it. The promenade at Tynemouth came into view and it was now Rob who had over taken the black Ford.

He turned the steering wheel sharply and the Ford swerved to avoid a collision but in doing so they didn’t see the lamp post and careered into it. There was a crunching sound as the windscreen smashed and one of the men was thrown from the vehicle.

He landed on his back and lay there. Rob drove to the roundabout near the Park hotel. He went around then back to where the car he had forced off the road had hit the lamp post he stopped then got out quickly then went to look in the front seat.
