“Not now Helen I’m in a rush here can’t you see.’

“Is this job more important to you than our marriage?’

“This job keeps a roof over our head love if you haven’t noticed.’

“I’ve noticed how distant you have become over the last few years.’

“Can we talk about this tonight Helen I have to go?’

“Go then.’

Rob put on his suit jacket; he hurried out of the door and didn’t bother to kiss his wife as he slid into the car and started it up. She went to the door as he pulled away and it was then that she made a decision.

Helen sat and wrote Robert a letter before packing a case then getting into her mini and driving to her mother’s house. Later that afternoon she visited Kid and Spoor solicitors and filed for a divorce. Helen had come to realise that Rob was married to his job and any woman who came along would take second place to it.

She told her mother and father about the situation that she now found herself in.

They fully supported her plight.

She was working part time in a travel agency but now she would have to work more hours in order to support herself. She thought back to when she first met Rob when he came into the shop looking to book a cheap holiday. He flirted with her whilst she checked on the computer for the best deals to Tenerife and Grand Canaria for him.

She liked the young man who had a nice smile and a glint in his eye. She told him that there was a deal for two people sharing in Las Americas.

“I don’t know I haven’t asked her yet.’

“Well when you do ask her if you still want to go I will keep it for you.’

“Really, you would do that for me?’

“Yes, Thompson’s do our best for our customers.’

“Okay then what date is it.’

“It’s the 29th of August so you have six months in which to get someone to go with you.’

“When do you take your holiday?’

“Usually in June; why do you ask?’

“Well if you are to go with me then we need to find a one in June then.’

“Helen laughed; you are a fast worker aren’t you.’

“Well if we were to go in August that gives me six months to get to know you better.’

“How do you know I’m not with anyone?’

“I don’t, but you are not wearing a ring so are you seeing anyone in the next six months.’

“I wasn’t planning on it.’

“Well what if I was to ask you to come to dinner with me on Friday night you could then bring all the details with you and we could plan our holiday together.’

The other girl in the shop turned and said “if Helen won’t go with you then I will.’

“I can pick you up if you tell me where you live said Rob hopefully.’

Helen took a pen from her desk and quickly wrote down her address and phone number then gave it to the young man.’

“Right then Helen said Rob as he read her name on her blue Jacket she was wearing.

Helen was about five feet nine in her shoes she had long blond hair that hung down the small of her back. She looked about twenty four he thought as he took in every feature of her face right down to the dimple in her chin. She wore red lipstick the
