his will. Stephen went into the bedroom and made a call to someone called Sean; “he seemed to be in charge of things as he was giving the orders.’

“When is the shipment coming; we need it before the 22nd or we will loose the slot.’

“It will arrive at 2am on the 19th at the usual place.’

“Good man; see you soon bye now.’

“Ralph played back the conversation in case he’d missed anything significant.’

Little did Seamus know that he’d been taped too from the minute that he’d got in the taxi?

Ralph started the taxi then headed back to the base at a secret location In Newcastle.

He parked up outside of the “Three Bridges Hotel” then walked under the archway. He looked around then used a key to open a stone door that led to an underground tunnel. The tunnel led to the intelligence centre where they had everything from surveillance cameras to sound equipment.

Ralph had waited until they had all gone out then had used the spare key that he had to get in strategically hidden cameras watched as he entered the building.

When he got to his office which had a bed inside so that if need be he could grab an hour of sleep so that he could work around the clock if he needed to.’

This was a big or so Dennis Lord had informed him. It certainly was the biggest operation that he had worked on; nick named “Operation Bodhran” after a large Irish drum that beats out the rhythm for folk singers.’ This if they could carry it off it could net them the top dogs who were behind all the bombings in both Northern Ireland and mainland Britain. It was a risky undertaking because one mistake could ruin the whole operation. Months of team work both here and in Ireland would be wasted. Ralph Mason had been in the armed forces for over thirty years. He was made a captain after defusing a massive bomb under the Ark Royal during the Second World War.

The Ark Royal was in Southampton at that time being fitted out with specialised new missiles aimed at destroying targets some twenty miles away. They were top secret. The Germans used English born and educated soldiers to try and sabotage the plan to blow an under ground base that the Germans were using. British intelligence had received information from the French resistance that a meeting was being held by Rudolph Hess, Heinrich Himmler, Joseph Goebbels, Robert Ley, and Martin Bormann. The underground bunker in Cherbourg was to be used to plan the final solution to the Jewish problem as they called it. If the ark Royal could target the bunker and send these missiles to destroy it; then it would save many millions of lives and shorten the war by one year. Alan Turing who broke the enigma code was able to decipher coded messages sent by the German’s. He knew that a team of German bomb experts were being used to blow up the Ark Royal as she waited to be armed with the missiles that were being sent from Portsmouth under heavy guarded escort. Ralph Mason was in the team sent to infiltrate the German team. They shot and killed four members of the team but one of them Günter Hauser a twenty four year old university student got away and he used his superior skill to con his way into the dock disguised as a navy guard. He was able to get right up close to the Ark Royal. He slipped under the water using a re-breather and set a 500lb charge under the ships hull which would blow the ship out of the water and destroy the missiles as well.

When the missiles were fully loaded Gunter tried to make his escape but Ralph saw him leaving his post. Posing as Johnny Thompson, Gunter said that he had to use the toilet. His deception was found out however when Ralph who could speak perfect German; shouted “Schauen sie heraus er hat eine waffe.’ Instinctively the guard dived for cover thinking he was going to be shot. He was arrested and taken to be questioned but something in the back of his mind made Ralph want to check the ship.
