Once they onto where they needed to be they drove slowly down until Finbar shouted “There on the right; drive down past it then turn in we don’t want to scare them off do we.

Billy did what he was asked then parked the car nearby and the sat and waited.’

How long are we going to sit here Stephen; why don’t we just go in and get him.’

“Because we don’t know if he is there you prick.’ If we go bursting in there one of them could get away and alert Seamus and they could do off again. “No we will wait; no matter how long it takes.’

Billy turned on the radio for the news and it was all about the government trying to secure talks with Gerry Adams, who was being interviewed. He was giving more reasons to avoid talks rather than get together round a table and discuss peace between the sectarian groups with Terrence O’Neil and Ian Paisley.

They sat listening to the news bulletin. The sky was beginning to darken as the last of the light disappeared. “What time is it I’ve got a gig to do tonight?’

It’s just gone five thirty; what time do you have to be at the club for?’

“Half past seven at the latest.’

“Right lets do this but I don’t want any violence; do you hear me Michael?’

“Aye alright said Michael as they got out of the car and walked calmly to the gate then went inside.’

Finbar rang the door bell and waited the door was answered by Brenda.

“Hello Brenda is your Da’ in they said as Stephen drew a pistol and pointed it at Brenda’s stomach.’

My Da’s out.’

“Is Liam in the house then?’

They forced there way in and the other men went quickly into the house and checked each room. Liam was shaving in the bathroom upstairs when Michael kicked open the door.

“Well now, if it isn’t the rugby star himself.’ “Going out were we said Michael as he pointed a gun in his face.’ “One word and I’ll blow your head off; get your clothes you’re coming with us.’

Liam grabbed his clothes and put on a clean tee shirt he did up his braces then walked ahead of Michael who had a gun in his back.

“Where’s you mother and father.’

“Both at work where do you think they are spat Brenda who was then slapped across the face. Liam went to punch Finbar for hitting his sister but Michael dug the gun into his small ribs making him wince in pain.’

Stephen McGill told them both to sit down. “Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way; it’s up to you?’

“We’re not going back said Liam.’

“Listen lad you will do whatever we tell you to do; now you wouldn’t want us to blow two holes in those precious kneecaps of yours would you.’ “I mean your rugby career would be over before it had even begun.’

“Finbar watch the door and you Michael, keep watch from upstairs so if you see them coming up the road you can alert us.’

It was Just after six o’clock when Michael saw them coming up the road together.

“They’re coming get ready.’

Finbar hid in the darkness as he waited until the key was put in the door. Both Seamus and Annie walked in.’

“Anybody home shouted Seamus.’
