“Well it doesn’t have to be a date as such we can just meet up and go and have a cup of tea somewhere.’ I mean its Saturday tomorrow and I’m doing nothing maybe we could go somewhere.’

“I would like that; what time?’

“Well it would have to be after dinner as I’m playing Rugby for the school against Marden high school.

“Where are you playing?’

“At the back of the school near Billy Mill;’ you can come and watch me play if you like.’

“Is Brenda going?’

“I expect so, why?’

“Well I think she likes Danny; does he play?’

“Are you kidding; have you seen the size of him; he’d be flattened in two minutes by the forwards.’

“Is he a good runner?’

“Yes, but you need to be able to get past players with the ball.’

“I see; well bring him along anyway.’

Alright I’ll ask him; they finished washing up and Liam put back the plates into the cupboards that his father had made Billy Hunter.

Look its gone eleven fifteen; we are going to have to shoot before the Hunter’s get back.’

“I’ll see you tomorrow then after the game.’

“Okay; I’ll get my coat then.’

Liam walked back into the living room found his coat then indicated to the door so that Danny knew that they were leaving.

“See you later then sis said Liam as they made for the door.’

“Tell mam I’ll be in shortly; Connie doest usually get in until about quarter to twelve from the club.’

“Danny and Liam walked down the road to Liam’s house. “ I’ll see you tomorrow morning then said Liam.’

“Where are we going like?’

“I’ve got a game and Brenda will be there.’

“Will she; right then I’m coming; I’ll call on you at eight thirty in the morning.’

Bring your boots with you; you might get a game if someone drops out.’

“Me, I don’t play rugby.’

“You know how to play don’t you?’

“Aye but…

“Fine we will put you on the wing; once you get the ball just run like hell up the field with it and pass it to one of our lot and we will go over the line with it.’

“Alright but you had better watch my back; I don’t want to come out of the game looking like something from John Bowman’s butcher shop.’

“Well don’t let them catch you then stupid.’ See you.’

“Aal reet, good neet.’

“So said Jan to Brenda; tell me all?’

“All what?’

About you and Danny; did he kiss you?

“Don’t be daft; Danny and I are just friends.’
