4. Hailey- the date

HAILEY'S POINT OF VIEW:

I walked in the door to my mom on the phone. She smiled at me and waved me in. She quickly hung up and gave me a hug.

"Hi Hails. I have great news." She shook excitedly as she spoke.

"Hey mom. Sure tell me." I smiled as we both took a seat on the couch.

"I was just on the phone with Alex Matthew's father. He said Alex moved back in with him 6 months ago and he realized he ought to give us a call! Alex works at the cafe why don't you go down there and talk to him?" Moms words made me laugh out loud.

"Actually I did. We are going out tonight. I broke up with Luke. It was about time. Apparently he's been with the waitress at the diner for over a year. Such a jerk. Anyway I've missed Alex and haven't stopped loving him. I better go get dressed." I smiled and my mom gasped happily.

She's always hated Luke and his family. Upstairs I undressed and took a long hot shower. Once I finished I applied creamy lotion and blow dried my long hair till it was completely dry. I straightened it to perfection and changed into a tight black dress. Pinning my hair back a bit I pulled out my makeup. I didn't like tons of makeup so a light lip gloss and mascara would do. I stared at myself in the mirror as I tugged on nude high heels. I looked stunning. I heard Alex and my mom talking at the front door as I came down.

"Hailey you look...breathtaking." Alex murmured and I slowly walked toward him.

"You look mighty fine in a tux let me say." I smiled lovingly and Alex grabbed my hand gently.

"Have fun you two." My mom called after us as we climbed into Alex's car.

"Alex it's always been you." I whispered adoringly.

"Hailey I don't know how I survived without you. You are the person who brings out the good in me. Nobody else can." He smiled over at me as he drove down the long road.

"I've dated. After you. But when I was with that boy I could only think of you Alex. Only you. You make me happy. You make me feel special. You're the one for me and I'm sure of that." I felt tears swell up in my eyes.

"I didn't expect you not to date Hails. Don't get upset. You are my sunshine and being with you is a blessing. Your smile and laugh and voice are all I need. Seeing you today at the cafe made memories flow back to me. We were the IT couple of middle school and elementary school and the first year of high school. I'm not Alex without my Hailey." He said and the tears flowed from my eyes.

"Alex you're amazing. I'm not me with my Alex. Alex I've been lost without you. Ask anyone. I'm not the same without you. I've never felt this way about anyone but you. And I'm so glad you're here now. So I can feel happiness again." I smiled and Alex placed his free hand on top of mine.

"Hailey, will you be my girlfriend?" He said so sweetly and so softly that I poured tears.

"Alex will you be my boyfriend?" I whispered as we pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant.

"Nothing would make me happier." We both said in unison as Alex helped me out of the car.

I wrapped my arms tightly around his neck and kissed his cheek softly. He hugged me like he used to do and I knew we both still loved each other. With all of our hearts.

"Alex Matthews? No there's no reservation sir. Sorry for the inconvience. We only accept reservations." The lady stared at us straight faced.

"Oh no Alex was I supposed to call? Maybe you said it to me. It sounds familiar." I worried and Alex put a finger to my lips.

"I have a plan Hailey." He murmured and dragged me out the door. "Luckily we're in NYC."

He drove down the road and parked across the street from the Empire State Building.

"Ooohhh I love heights." I giggled. It's my weird obsession.

We climbed to the very top and I couldn't believe what was on the roof floor. A picnic with candles and sparkling cider.

"I think this fits." Alex winked at me and I was overflowing with joy.

ALEX'S POINT OF VIEW:

She looked beautiful. Her long golden hair flowed over her shoulders has her arms held onto the wood banister. A tight black dress clung to her curves and her shoes clacked on her stairs. She shot me a warm smile and kissed her mom on the cheek.

"You look....breathtaking." I murmured.

She took a gentle step toward me and I could hear her slow steady breathing.

"You look mighty fine in a tux let me say." She laughed and placed a hand on my tie.

Her mom said goodbye and I watched Hailey, breathlessly, as she gracefully climbed into my car. After moments of silence she inhaled deeply.

"It's always been you Alex." She whispered through a choked up voice.

"Hailey I don't know how I survived without you. You are the person who brings out the good in me. Nobody else can." I smiled over at her and she caught my eye.

"I've dated. After you. But when I was with that boy I could only think of you Alex. You make me happy. You make me feel special. You're the one for me and I'm sure of that." I watched her wipe a tear from her eye.

I'm not Alex without my Hailey." Tears sprung from her eyes and suddenly I got choked up.

"Alex you're amazing. I'm not me without my Alex. Alex I've been lost without you. Ask anyone. I'm not the same without you. I've never felt this way about anyone but you. And I'm so glad you're here now. So I can feel happiness again." She smiled and placed her hand on top of mine.

"Hailey will you be my girlfriend?" I asked her hopefully.

"Alex will you be my boyfriend?" She giggled slightly.

"Nothing would make me happier." We both said together.

We pulled into the restaurant parking lot and I helped the gorgeous Hailey out of the car. We engaged in a tight hug and she kissed my cheek softly. Inside the receptionist I'd paid to play along pretended to look confused.

"Alex Matthews? There's no reservation. We only accept reservations." She said and I saw Hailey's face distort.

"Alex was I supposed to call?" She asked me worriedly.

I put a finger to her lips and grinned brightly.

"I have a plan Hailey. Luckily we're in NYC." I murmured to Hails next to me.

I parked across from the Empire State Building and Hailey smiled fully.

"Oohh I love heights." She giggled and that's one of my favorite things about her.

We climbed the long flights of stairs and at the top she gasped. I had set up a picnic with candles and sparkling cider.

"I think this fits." I winked lovingly at Hailey.
