All he needed was some one to spoil. He felt lonely, and depressed. He just needed something, someone in his life to make him happy, so he can make them happy. And he soon plans to find the one, hopefully.

''I believe that if I treat her right, and let her know that I love, that she'll be happy again, and be loved. That's all I want, I just want her to completely happy.. She's the only thing I care about, and I want to prove it to her.. No matter what I have to do to get her to understand it.. I love her..''

12. Five Minutes

That Evening

Emmy’s POV

I had on the teal colored dress, that Mr. Styles demanded he’d buy for me, on. I just so happened to have a pair of heels the exact same color, so I wore those too. My hair was straightened, and my makeup was light, not much applied.

As of now though, I was standing in line, waiting to get to the counter. Mr. Styles told me he would be running a tad late, only a few minutes, so he called the people here and told them to go on and seat me. I think it is a little weird that I’m having dinner with my boss, I mean look who he is.

The person in front of me steps away from the line to follow the waitress to her table I suppose. The woman behind the podium looks up at me, her eyebrows furrowed a little, it looked like a natural thing for her so I tried not to think about it so much.

‘’Reservation name.’’ She sighs lightly. ‘’Um, Styles.’’ I tell her. ‘’As in Harry Styles?’’ She asks, looking at the paper in front of her. ‘’Yes.’’ I nod a little. ‘’You’re the girl he’s having dinner with?’’ She laughs a little, shaking her head lightly from side to side.

‘’Um, yes.’’ I mumble back, not understanding why people are so shocked by this, even my own mother didn’t believe me when I called her earlier. ‘’What’s your name?’’ She rolls her eyes at me. ‘’Emmy.’’ I say. ‘’Well then, you are the girl. Come with me.’’ She sighs as she moves from behind the podium, another lady taking her place.

I follow the snobby woman through the nice, expensive looking restaurant that I will probably never be able to afford. She takes me towards the very back of the main dining hall. We reach a table in the back corner, tucked away from the rest of the world, it seemed.

The lighting was perfect, not too bright, but not too dark either. The table was neatly arranged, an assortment of spices sitting in a rack, leaned against the wall. The cloth napkins had a lacey overlay on them, making them look more than they’re probably worth.

‘’Someone will be with you soon.’’ She says flatly before turning around and walking off, leaving me alone at the table. I sit down in the only chair on this side, the table sat two. The tall, slender candles in the middle of the table were light, the small flame allowing the scent to creep around, vanilla.

I find myself picking at my white nail polish, bored out of my mind. He couldn’t take any longer, could he? I mean gosh, I don’t mind waiting but I don’t want to wait forever. The minutes passed by, me losing track of the time didn’t help me at all with the patience thing.

My eyes wondered around, glancing over people who were too fancy for their own good. I sat with the back of my chair against the wall, not really caring if I found myself leaning my head back a little. I was annoyed, only because I felt out of place.

As I continued to mentally judge people in my mind, just by their appearance, my phone vibrated on the table. I sigh as I pick it up, staring at the message and the person who sent it. A wave of relief washed over me, only because I was no longer bored.

Mr. Styles: Have they seated you yet?

Me: Yes.

Mr. Styles: Good, I’m on my way. Five minutes away.

Me: Okay.

Mr. Styles: Are you okay?

Me: Yeah.

Mr. Styles: Alright, I’ll be there soon.

I don’t reply, I just lock my phone and sit it down. It felt weird to be texting my boss, especially while I’m here at this nice restaurant, waiting for him to show up. I didn’t have him by his first name in my phone, like I said before, it felt disrespectful to have anything but what I call him in there.

A minute or two passed, I just sat here staring at the table top, not wanting to look away only because I was afraid to find someone else staring at me, again. Perhaps I should understand why they were staring anyways, or why people are shocked to see me in places I don’t belong.

I’m not some fancy, rich person who lives in a huge penthouse upstate. I’m just me, someone trying to make it big in New York, trying to succeed at something in life. I don’t belong here in this seat, or anywhere near this building.

And I surely don’t belong anywhere near Harry Styles, that was for sure. He’s worth more than I could ever imagine having, not that I would like to have all that money. Money is just paper, people are worth more than paper, so why do we focus on the money anyways?

Don’t get me wrong, Mr. Styles is a nice person, and I’m not trying to say that he’s too into himself or whatever, I’m just saying that I don’t belong here, or near him.

I lost track of the time again, I notice as I glance at my phone. A few more minutes have passed, exceeding the time Mr. Styles said he would be here, which should have been three minutes ago. I sigh to myself, I know he’s coming, but yet for some reason I doubt it.

I don’t know why, I just do. I was snapped back into this unbelievable reality as I heard a man’s voice say a name I was familiar with, the name of the person that deserves to be spending his time elsewhere, and not with me.

‘’Right this way, Mr. Styles.’’ I look up from my hands to see Mr. Styles walking towards the table, his eyes on his feet as he ran a hand through his messy hair, which is its natural way. I liked it, actually. ‘’Sorry to keep you waiting.’’ The guy says as he reaches me, Mr. Styles a few feet behind him.

I just smile lightly, nothing more and nothing less. He steps back, allowing Mr. Styles to get to his seat. He sits down, sitting his phone on the table in front of him. ‘’Can I start you two off with any drinks?’’ The man asks as Mr. Styles looks up at him.

‘’Bring us a bottle of Grey Goose.’’ He sighs as he blinks slowly, he seemed annoyed for some reason. ‘’Alright, anything else?’’ The man says, his hands behind his back as he waits for Mr. Styles to answer again. ‘’No.’’

The guy nods before turning and walking off, leaving me and Mr. Styles in a silence. I found myself staring at him, noticing things. He was wearing the purple shirt, yes.. the one I picked out. I smile lightly to myself as I realized it, but it soon faded as I caught his mood.

He seemed tense, annoyed, not in the best of moods for sure. At the moment he had his forehead pressed against his hand, his elbow on the table as I hear him sigh loudly to himself. I gulp gently, not able to be heard though.

The slow instrumental music was softly playing through the restaurant, easing nervous and tensions at every table expect for this one. My eyes were staring down at my hands, which sat in my lap. I didn’t know what to do, or what to say. I was nervous, afraid, confused.. but most of all.. I was scared.
