3. You Put Your Arms Around Me

You put your arms around me
And I believe that it's easier for you to let me go
You put your arms around me and I'm home

Hermione cried silently on the steps leading up to the girls' dormitories, hiding behind her thick mane of brown hair to hide the fact that she was crying. Fighting fighting fighting, that's all I seem to be good at lately! Hermione thought, and her shoulders began to shake as she sobbed softly. The look of hurt and anger on Fred's face flashed in her mind and she muffled another sob. She could never, ever forgive herself for hurting her friend.

"Hermione? Is that you?" a voice asked softly. Hermione's head snapped up and she gave a little gasp when she saw Fred and George Weasley kneeling at the bottom of the stairs. She instantly recognized Fred for his slightly messier hair and, most importantly, his red and puffy eyes. Feeling more tears well up in her eyes Hermione buried her head in her hands. She heard the soft whispers of the twins, but couldn't catch what they said. Hearing the slight creaking of the stairs as someone made their way up, Hermione drew her knees close to her chest and couldn't but quiver.

"'Mione," Fred murmured, resting his hand on her cheek. She looked away and brushed his hand aside. "Go away. I know you hate me, you don't have to rub it in! Just... Just go away," Hermione whimpered. Fred flinched and wrapped his arms tightly around Hermione, making her gasp.

"No, I'm not going anywhere," he said quietly, pulling Hermione closer to him. "I don't hate you. I lo- I'm your friend. Forgive and forget," Fred said with a nervous smile. Hermione looked up at him in suspicious, noting the slight tremble in his arms as he held her and the blush slowly creeping up his neck and on his cheeks, the shade becoming closer to his hair color as the minuted ticked past.

"You corrected yourself. What were you going to say?" Hermione asked. Fred bit his lip and Hermione felt something in her chest flutter. He looked so cute when he was nervous... Wait, what was she thinking?! Hermione mentally slapped herself before focusing back on Fred's red face and waiting for his reply.

"I was... I was going to say... I-I..." Fred stammered, his voice trailing off. He looked down at Hermione, into her dark, captivating brown eyes. Before he could stop himself, he slowly leaned in and joined their lips together. Hermione's eyes widened in surprise and she instinctively put her hands on Fred's chest to push him away. But the longer he pressed his lips to hers, the firmer his grip on her became, the less she wanted to pull away.

Hermione closed her eyes and began to move her lips against Fred's, the butterflies in her stomach growing wilder. Hesitantly, she wrapped her arms around Fred's neck and brought him closer to her. He grunted in surprise, but smiled into the soft kiss. They parted to Hermione's great displeasure, a thin line of saliva connecting their lips. Hermione giggled at the flushed, dreamy look on Fred's face.

"I think I know what you were going to say now," Hermione said with a small laugh. Fred grinned and hugged Hermione tightly, resting his head on her shoulder. She had never felt more at home.
