There's no time

It had been 3 years since Jacob Stone had been reported missing. It came as a shock to those who knew him best, as he was quite happy for the average 13 year old. I'm Daisy Thomas and I'm gonna tell you what actually happened to the him.

Daisy, Daniel and Christopher are mourning at their friend's funeral. But then a sinister figure emerges from the shadows of their small town. After many strange events, Daisy and her friends are soon swept up into a mystery that no one could even begin to imagine. It's not long before they realise that the clock is ticking, and for something's, there's no time...

23. Part 2 - Chapter 23

He'd left. Just... left. I stared at the door, tears pricked at my eyes. He'd run away and just... left me. But Daniel wouldn't do that, would he? I was crying. Full on crying. Of all the people that could make me fall apart for all the wrong reasons, why Daniel Joel Couper? My thoughts where disrupted by a stabbing pain in my neck. The tracker. Trinia was back on her feet. Back with a vengeance.

I didn't even look at her, I just kept staring at the door. She followed my gaze. Then she looked at the empty floor next to me. Her face hardened, she'd worked out what had happened. Her lips curled cruelly.

"Well, more fool him," she said. "He has no idea what's waiting for him out there, if he has any kind of sense, then he'll come back," what was that supposed to mean? I was beyond caring. But someone else wasn't.

"What do you mean?" It was Will. He had a look of concern on his usually placid face. Trinia laughed. She loved the sense of authority that she got when others where oblivious.

"Well, Will, Will, Well. It won't apply to you. Want to know why?" He narrowed his eyes at her. "Because, we are in your exact year in your time era." Tarrin opened his mouth, closed it, then opened it again.

"We're in Overdrive?" Will gaped.

"You mean that, that we're home?" continued Tarrin.

Christopher looked up. He'd been completely silent the whole time we'd been here. Now he chose to speak.

"Excuse me, but what's Overdrive?" he asked cautiously. That was a good question. I was starting to realise that it would be selfish to not care about what was going on. Therefore I wouldn't be caring what happened to my friends and new acquaintances. But I did care. I felt responsible for what had happened to us. I felt it was my fault for getting us into this mess.

"The Overdrive era started in 2053 when all the electrics malfunctioned. Everything is on at all times with the highest voltage." Explained Tarrin.

"How long this power surge can last, we don't know. The government decided to stop making electricity 10 years ago." said Will.

"Wait, then what year are we in?" It was Lydia. I looked up.

"2188" I said.
