The Thunder Of Kiwea

The dragons of Kiwea are thinning out and she is the last onyx dragon in her Thunder. Jinda, her mate, is the Lord of dragons and red as blood. She wants to find more like her, but she's rather restricted with her duties. Is she really alone in the world, or just the only one for a while?

3. Ch. 2

"My love, I know you want to try, but I fear that the others are right. It will lead to much bloodshed that we cannot afford." I reason as the Lord of the dragons paces the floor of the cavern sitting just above the meeting room. "But to change what we are? To shift? It could prove fatal to us. Where would we be then?" I let out a puff of smoke and decide to try it for myself. "I will be the one who tries it first." I say, having already made up my mind. "No. I cannot allow it. If something were to go wrong--" "If something were to go wrong, then another female would take my place. Lasia perhaps." I growl, wishing he would listen without argument. "I would not take another. You are my only." He mumbles, knowing he is on a sore subject with me. "Love does not exist that way with me, Jinda Skystalker. You know this." I look away as he rakes his nails on the stone floor. "Then what does that make us, Arona Heartseeker? I love you more than any dragon ever could. I see in your eyes that you love me as well. Why deny it longer?" I flinch away from the words as if they were swords slashing at my tender spots. "I... I do not know what I feel for you, Jinda." I whisper. He comes abreast of me and nudges my jaw with his. "It is love, My Beloved. You would not call me your love if it was otherwise." I focus on the floor before taking a quick glance at him. He is around my age with a beautiful bloodred hide. My scales reflect light onto his, causing a darker shade to appear. He shakes his head when he sees the look in my eyes. "You will see. Now let us go do your experiment before I change my mind."
