The Thunder Of Kiwea

The dragons of Kiwea are thinning out and she is the last onyx dragon in her Thunder. Jinda, her mate, is the Lord of dragons and red as blood. She wants to find more like her, but she's rather restricted with her duties. Is she really alone in the world, or just the only one for a while?

15. Ch. 14

I landed in the agreed upon field, finding it empty being as I was an entire night early. I walked around, letting my tail flick into trees, rocks, streams, whatever it could detect. My eyes easily adjusted to the dark, taking in the deer who were brave enough to glance through the trees. I growled and they went running. A few seconds later, however, an answering growl met mine. I whipped my head around to find a pink dragon emerging from the trees. "Lady." She said with a sneer. I growled and snapped my jaws at her. She just laughed and stalked closer. She was huge, about three times my size, and rage was rippling off of her. "What do you want?" I asked quietly, watching her every move. "I want your throat in my teeth, blood gushing and bone snapping after you forgot me like prey you had lamed and then had no interest in finishing." I stared at her, my jaw dropping. "Nalenta?" I breathed, my thoughts flying. "Yes, My Lady. The one you assumed dead two years ago, the one you left on that battlefield to die!" She lunged, using my shock to her advantage. Her claws tore at my left wing as her jaws clamped down on my right, splintering it in ways that had my vision flickering. I roared as she twisted her head, dislocating my wing bone and jumping away, watching me suffer as her wound crippled me. "Feel that, Arona? Feel the blinding pain?" She growled, a vicious gleam shining in her eyes. I whimpered, but there was no heart left in Nalenta to heed it. She pounced again and I jumped out of her way, my useless wing dragging next to me while my bloodied wing was tucked in. I growled as more pain lanced through my right wing, but focused my attention solely on her. "Come, now, Arona. You can't hope to save yourself when you look like that." I groaned as I shifted my weight, getting ready to pounce while giving the appearance of backing down. Nalenta took the bait and launched herself at me again. I pounced as well, slashing for her exposed underside as she sailed over me. She roared and rolled into the dirt, whining in a way I could barely stand. She stood, her stomach already leaking a pool of blood. Her hate-filled eyes locked onto mine and she walked towards me, the wound not even slowing her. I crouched again  and waited, her stalking gait halting for a few seconds before she lunged again. She was swifter this time, tackling me before I even had a chance to move. Her jaws clamped around my neck and blood began gushing, her teeth slicing into the delicate skin with ease. I kept my neck still as death as she stood above me, bathing in her victory. I felt her move and I was forced to move with her, over to where the river flowed. "Your blood will flow away in this river and your mate will never find your body. There will be no peace for you or yours." I waited for the killing wrench of her head to kill me, but she said, "What is your final wish?" Her final gift, one that proved she wasn't totally gone and that I might be able to talk my way out if I tried. But, as if sensing my thoughts, she growled and clamped down a little tighter. "I wish for your forgiveness." I whispered into her mind, not trusting speech to keep my throat in tact. "Consider it done by your blood." She growled and I felt her muscles tighten for the wrench. I calmed my blood and let silence fill my mind as- Panther burst through the underbrush and slammed into her, dragging me down with her as her teeth tore at my neck. My airway was cut and blood began filling my throat as she released me to focus on tearing him to pieces. I chocked on blood, trying to focus enough to let the magic heal, but my panicked mind wouldn't calm. My eyes met Panther's as I faded, hearing his roar of fear and hatred before I was gone.
