The Thunder Of Kiwea

The dragons of Kiwea are thinning out and she is the last onyx dragon in her Thunder. Jinda, her mate, is the Lord of dragons and red as blood. She wants to find more like her, but she's rather restricted with her duties. Is she really alone in the world, or just the only one for a while?

2. Ch. 1

We move into the secret cave that lies at the very top of the highest mountain in the world, a place that the two-legs cannot reach, and find a place to lie down. Once all of the dragons are inside, I stand and walk to the middle of the room. "Treil, how many are we?" I ask as he rises. "We are two hundred, My Lady." I nod and ask, "And how evenly are we split?" He dips his head and nearly whispers "We are one hundred and twenty males and eighty females." I dig my claws into the ground beneath me. So few... I nod, signaling for him to take his place lying down. "As you know, we are here to speak of either war or peace. Either way, we will find a solution to this issue peacefully. Are we agreed?" After the initial silence, I am met with a chorus of growls in agreement. "Good. If any here wish to present a solution, please do so now." A few seconds pass before a younger dragon with near-white scales stands. "I suggest we wipe these two-legs out. The entire ecosystem suffers at their hands. It is not only we who are being wiped out." She nods to the room before lying back down and falling silent once more. An older brown dragon stands next, his long body indicating wisdom and strength. "Young one, you have much to learn. I propose that we try to negotiate with these two-legs. Surely they will see reason and change their ways." He lies back down and is barely settled before another old dragon stands, this one sky blue. "We have tried negotiating peace. It never worked before, so what would you have us do? Try once more and have our numbers plummet farther?" He growls and the brown dragon stands and growls as well. I let out a roar and silence them both, taking charge once more. "That is enough, elder ones. We are here for ideas, not fights." They both take their places once more and I sit down before them all. "I propose a different plan. We were born with magic in our blood. It flows freely in our veins, causing our blood to shimmer when it is spilled. We must use this magic to our advantage and not to our detriment. We have all heard that we can change our very being if we so wish. This is what I suggest. If we combine our strength, then we can give ourselves the ability to Shift. I think it is our only hope to avoid extinction." I stand once more as quiet conversation fills the room. After a few minutes have passed, the eldest dragon in the cave, a silver dragon whose voice is deeper than most, approaches me. "My Lady, we understand what has brought you to this conclusion, but we are afraid that we will change more than we mean to change. This must be talked over with Our Lord." I nod and bow to him, showing respect. "I shall return soon."
