1. Intro

He stood transfixed and mute. The air seemed to almost weigh down on his body while the ticking of the clock came to an abrupt stop. The watch around his wrist also paused. The hammering of his heart filled his ears. He thought they could hear it too. ‘God help me!’ He thought as the figures in front of him silently watched, twitching and sniffing.

They were completely black. Not black clothes but their bodies were completely pitch black. He couldn’t see their eyes or there mouths, although there looked to be an indent or a bend for where their eyes and mouth should be. Their bodies were stone from how completely still they were. Oliver couldn’t bring himself to move a finger, too afraid the predator would decided to pounce. He fought back his legs from quivering under him, even though they longed to give out and drop him onto the cold cement floor. Finally one of the figures moved, turning away from him to look at something in the distance. The lights began to flicker above all of their heads, drawing the other two’s attention. What were they? He hadn’t seen their, kind before, although they resembled the Zaradofs, they weren’t the same.

A door creaked open on the other side of the subway tracks. Oliver ,to terrified to move, looked in that direction; hoping someone might come through and save him. His eyeballs watched the door intently. The demons stumbled forward towards the tracks; lifting their heads and looked to be sniffing the air. Oliver couldn’t smell a thing, it’s not like he could smell everything that world threw at him. How come they were sniffing?

He could hear the crackling sound of bones breaking or grinding against one another while the pitch black figures moved. They came to the end of the walkway and sniffed. He unclenched his fists and moved each finger slowly, working out the cramp in his hand. It took all his courage to take a step back towards the stairwell leading to the streets above their heads. They didn’t seem to notice so he turned his head fully to look at the exit then at the door on the other side of the tracks.

At that exact moment an ear-splitting shriek broke through the silence of the tunnel and one of the creatures dropped to the cold ground. His body gave off goose bumps; but not from the scream… There was another dark figure hugging it’s knees on the ground in front of the door. It looked almost like a woman but more like one of these dark creatures. The body on the ground fidgeted in pure agony as it wailed and clawed at it’s own chest.

The two other creatures slowly began to step away, the sound of bones cracking continued as they moved, whimpering. But it sounded like it was their communication because they responded to each other’s whimpers. He quickly turned his head to look at the exit then back at the creatures. His body tugging him towards the exit, the dark figures turned back to him and started walking his direction.

The sound of the approaching train echoed down the tunnel. The lights of the mechanical beast shone brightly in their direction, it drew the creatures away from him and he took his chance to run; glancing back at the womanly figure which had suddenly disappeared… along with the others even the one on the floor.

This wasn’t the first time he had seen these creatures. They had haunted his dreams ever since the night his parents left, but this nightmare wasn’t just in his dreams. They were always there when he woke
