25. Betrayed

Jennifer sat on the ground beside Bael her eyes staring deeply into the web covered floor. They were quiet and she was thankful because she disliked Bael very much. Not just because he was a spider but because he was a lying, selfish, power hungry, monster. He liked to mess with people's minds and play with their emotions for fun. He knows that she could have gone with him and they’d have to come back, but he wanted it to be fun. He wanted them to be scared and be separated from each other.

“So have you talked to Timothy lately? I heard he’s been quite happy.” He snickered and adjusted himself on his makeshift throne. Jennifer didn’t respond to his mockery and instead tried to focus on what their plan was to get Oliver home but keep Bael or any other demon from getting the portal. “Oh c’mon! I’m trying to make conversation with an old friend.”

“Like you said, we aren’t friends.” Her hands were tucked together on her lap.

“Touche; but that doesn’t mean we can’t talk. Do you still blame him for what happened?” Jennifer’s hair began to slowly whip around her head, like a wind was picking up. Bael snickered, “Unless you feel guilty about what happened to him.”

Jennifer whirled around to look at him, she was on her feet and her eyes were a dark red. Her figure was pale and bony. “Don’t ever talk about me or my husband! It is none of your business what happened between us or anything!” Bael didn’t move a muscle and instead laughed.

“Now now hun. Don’t get angry at me for your marriage problems.”

She let out a loud growl and the box that once held the sword, was thrown across the room and it hit a wall. Bael was still not moved and chuckled, “Did you hear who he paid a visit to? I heard it was a very moving show. Father and son bondage as it seems.”

“What do you mean?” She glared at the creature in disgust and hatred.

“So you haven’t heard.” He laughed. “Maybe you should ask your father in law how it went.” Her dead body went cold and her hair fell to her shoulders, she was standing on the ground and her eyes were almost human now.

    “He couldn’t have…”

“Oh yes he could dearie. Your husband takes orders from the boss, you know that. Anything he says, Tim agrees to. That just so happens to mean killing his own father for the man he follows.”

Jennifer couldn’t believe what she was hearing. Her heart ached and her head was pounding. She tried to find some other explanation for what had happened. She knew he had passed and she visited his grave as much as she could, but she didn’t know what had actually happened. She should have known what happened just by the sadness and loneliness that had taken over Britney. Her poor family was ripped apart by this mistake Tim had made by trying to save every ones life. “Oh god Tim… What have you done?”

“Oh yes, what has he done.” He chuckled. “On to more pressing matters. I forgot to mention that that sword your son is carrying may be the death of him.”

“What?” She began to return to her demon self.

“Yes. Those souls inside the sword are pretty… shall we say… disappointed in being put in there that the new owner has to go through every death and every wound that was ever taken by the demon and their victim. So he is basically going to feel every death imaginable in the worst sort of ways. I’d be surprised if he survives the pain, and even more surprised he doesn’t go insane by the time they’re done with him.”

“I could kill you right now!” She screamed and was in front of the creature in a second. Her eyes burning with hatred as she pinned the beast to the wall. It’s legs wiggled under it uselessly and web shot out at her, the acid burning at her limbs. But she barely noticed the pain.

“You can’t kill me! You have no idea where your son is and if he’s even alive!” The heads on top of the spider body shook till they popped off and the spider’s eyes were staring back into her soul.

“Good thing I have a mother’s instinct.” She ran her forearm into it’s body and tore it in half. Blood coated the wall and all over her body from head to toe. Her head was pounding and her body was burning from the acid that had squirted onto her. The body was split in two and it fell to the ground. The building began to shake and she could hear thousands of tiny legs coming her way. She was breathing heavily and she wanted to do it again. To kill again. She shook her head of the thought and looked about her at the spider’s nests that were exploding with tiny baby spiders, ready for revenge. She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes, warping herself onto the street.

The building began to crumble and fall on top of itself. She took in another calming breath and she felt human again as her feet met the ground. She thought about her son and how he needs her. Then she was gone.
