8. The Bleeding Girl

This poem does not condone or support cutting or self-harm, but instead is here to support those who do. You matter and you are loved. Stay strong.

Her jaw is clenched as pain grows

Her skin is pale as fallen snow

But she hides it well, cause no one knows

Around her wrist is a blooming rose

She wears long sleeves to avoid stares

She knows if they knew they wouldn't care

She won't test it; she couldn't bear

To know for sure life's so unfair

They can't see

Past her lips curled

For a fake smile

She's the bleeding girl

They don't know

Behind her lace and pearls

Hides the crying

The bleeding girl

When she's alone she shakes and cries

She holds herself thru-out the night

No one sees her broken double life

If they did could they make it right?

They can't see

Past her lips curled

For a fake smile

She's the bleeding girl

They don't know

Behind her lace and pearls

Hides the crying

The bleeding girl

Dripping blood, dam the ocean

Stem the flood, too much emotion

Fight the world, hide the tears

Fingers curled, knife against fear

They can't see

Past her lips curled

For a fake smile

She's the bleeding girl

They don't know

Behind her lace and pearls

Hides the crying

The bleeding girl
