A Handful of Poems

"I wish to be the ignorant raindrop, sometimes, to think that it was my fault after all of this. Alas,/ It was all a bitter execution of will that led me to her, killed her, and soaked my world with tears."

8. Rainy Fate

Each of us a raindrop,

We fall.

We plummet to the places we think are ours.

We’re wrong.

We drop with those near us in our minds to the end,

Our fate.

Told we choose all but the beginning and the end, we enjoy it.

The storm.

It’s the lightning of human existence that fuels us, but, like lightning

It’s short.

However, the flash of light is ours, fully ours. Only we’re sure we’ve created it.

I’m not.

I feel like the cool moon, changing nothing but the tides. Maybe, soon, they’ll listen to me.

I’m here.

I wish to be the ignorant raindrop, sometimes, to think that it was my fault after all of this. Alas,

It was all a bitter execution of will that led me to her, killed her, and soaked my world with tears.

Goodbye.
