nightmares and daydreams

Emma Cartwright, Calum Hood's stranger cousin, is coming home to Sydney, Australia after living most of her life in England.

The English teacher Mr. Smith was rambling on about prep phrases and basic grammatical stuff. I just read my book while trying not to notice the fact that out of my peripheral vision I could see Luke stealing glances at me. I just tried to focus on my book and not his incredibly hot jawline. Or his nice body. Or his perfect hair.

Read Emma. He's not your type. I chided myself. I tried to focus again. By the end of the hour, I learned nothing and only read about 5 pages. The bell rang and I swiftly gathered up my things and rushed out of the classroom. I wanted to get as far away from Luke What's-His-Face as I could get. I arrived at my locker and quick put in my combination. I glanced at my schedule. Chemistry.

"Chem is that way." Luke said from over my shoulder. He was pointing down the hall. He smelled like the ocean. "Come on, I'll take you there." He grinned down at me. I flashed a quick smile and started following him. He stole a few glances back at me on the way. We turned down another hallway and soon arrived at the chemistry room.

Luke strolled to the back and took a seat at a table alone. Cal and Michael were seated at the table in front of him.

"Emma Cartwright."

"Nice to meet you Emma. I'm Ms. Gray. You can head to the back next to Mr. Hemmings." She pointed at Luke. I groaned and sat down next to him.

"I'm back."

"I can see that." He said flatly. "I'm never going to get rid of you am I?" He muttered.

"Nope." I said popping the p. Ms. Gray was talking about protons and neutrons. We had already learned about this in England. I just doodled on my notebook. I glanced over at Luke. He was taking notes and actually paying attention. His eyebrows were scrunched as he concentrated. He was biting on his lip. He noticed me staring and raised his eyebrows. I quickly averted my gaze and focused on my drawing. I had a tingly feeling in my stomach.

The bell rang and I swiftly gathered my things and got up. I found my locker and checked my schedule. Gym.

"The gym is that way." I could feel Luke's hot breath on my neck. I shivered and looked back at him. "Cold?"

"No." I said solemnly.

"Let's go." He said flatly.

"Another class together? Wow it must be my lucky day." I said sarcastically. He rolled his eyes. I just winked.

"The locker room is over there." I rushed in and got changed. I went into the gym. We stretched and the teacher, Coach Carr, was explaining the rules of soccer. I loved soccer. He split up the teams. Luke and I were on one team, and Michael, Ashton, and Calum were on the other.

"I'll take Calum." I stated.

"He's really good, no way you are taking him." Some boy said.

"I got it, don't worry." The coach blew the whistle and the game started.
