The Hunters Work

A girl is the most fearsome hunter there can be. It just so happens they can also be the cutest to the things that they have to kill. It is part of their, charm. They lure something in and then they kill them without a second thought but this older Hunter is the hardest of them all. But with one thing. She is falling for someone that is undead. Well, she thinks that he is alive. But a closer look at him tells her otherwise. But she is also falling for another Hunter. The rules of a Hunter are very clear, 1 do not fall in love for something that is dead, 2 do not fall in love with another hunter, and 3 kill every vampire and work as hard as you can. Who is she going to choose?

2. The Second Day Off

"So what do you think?" Hanna asked Cody as he walked into her room again with some more news. He was looking sad but nothing too bad could have happened. If someone dies no one gets sad about it and everyone knows about it. Hanna looked at him oddly. No one here is sad about something unless they wanted something that they couldn't get. most of the first years are pretty sad to find out that they have to train for two years before they can kill their first vampire.

"What do I think about what?" He asked mopy as he plopped down on her bed next to her. She looked at him and pointed the sharp end of the newly sharped stake at him. He looked over at her and his eyes went from sad to alert in a second. He put his hands on the stake and turned it away from himself.

"Don't you point that thing at me!" He yelled breathlessly. Hanna was laughing her head off. "What? Is this what you wanted me to look at? Your handiwork?" He asked dropping his hands to his lap smiling slightly at what he had said. He looked over at her and saw she was nodding. He took the stake from her and gave it his once over.

"It looks great but um- how about you try a little more of getting a case and not doing this?" He asked and gave her back the stake she had made. She sighed as she realized he wasn't going to let her go on the fact that she missed a good case and she knew it. She had wanted that case but not badly enough. If she was going to get a case she was going to have to want to kill for it.

"I will go check with the Informat," She told him and got up off her bed. He jumped up from the bed and was two inches from being on her the whole way to the informant's office. "Any more case's that you need to be done?" She asked as the informat jumped up from her quick appearance.

"Yes, I do have some. I have also been meaning to talk to you about that case yesterday that was announced. Why did you not take it? I thought that it would have been the best case for you," The informat said. Hanna shrugged she didn't know why she didn't take it. Hanna didn't want to bad enough would be her guess but it was probably that she didn't want death to find her but that is their job. Go looking for death find it and kill it.

"Okay then. Your next case would be this one here," The informat said handing over a file of the paper. Hanna took it and gave it to Cody while he looked like a kid in a candy store, smiled at the informat and left the office. Cody was following her and reading the file as he was. He knew to trust her and she would lead the way to where they were going.

It took ten minutes to get across the building and into the training place. Here is where they all train and work and practice. Some of the Hunters are still young enough that they need to still be in school so they do their homework here as well. "So Cody, what is this case about?" Hanna asked him as he put down the file and looked up at where he was. He handed her the file to flip through knowing that she wasn't going to read it.

"His name is Jesus. He is 25 years old. So he is a newbie. You know, Hanna, this case seems all too easy for you. You should turn it in for a harder one," Cody said as if making her see that it was too easy. Hanna laughed and made him continue. " Fine. He has been  seen two hours ago in San Fransico. He was making his way to the Aquarium of The Bay. I think that he was going there to find his meal but he could be going there to check the fish out?" Cody asked sarcastically. When Hanna burst out laughing Cody did the same thing. "His gift thing would be ... Umm, I don't see his gift here. Two things that this could mean. One he hasn't found it yet. Or two he has and they don't know what it is called," He said sounding a little scared about that. "What should we do? Take him in or kill him on the spot?" He asked her. She paused to think about it. She looked back at him with glazed over eyes.

"I think that killing him on the spot would be the best choice but it could very well be the wrong choice. If we bring him in it would be difficult and dangerous but it would help us see what his gift would be or is. So go tell them to save a spot for him in the labs, so we can find out what it is if I don't kill him first," She told him just to see him smile and head out of the room.

She went to go get her hunter clothing on. Every time she goes out to hunt them she puts on black leather. It is to help her move better, fight better, and they make it a lot harder to see her when she is going it to attack mode. It worked every time. She pulled open the drawer and pulled out a black silk shirt with a black leather overcoat. It never matters how hot the temperature got on a case she was always in black. Her leather black pants helped to hide her scarred legs. They also had chains on them that loved to get in her way. But she liked the look of them so kept them on. Cody was back just then and in his clothing. Wearing the same thing but not leather. "They are going to save a spot and get it ready while we go and get it." He said and they went out to the airplane waiting for them.

"Oh god! This flying death thing again. Can't we just drive there?" Cody asked knowing the answer very well. Until he learned to drive and got his License and a car of his own they would be taking this airplane everywhere. Unless it was a really close place and they could get a car to drive them to it. "Cody, you know the answer to that one. I would like if you stop saying that as well. This plane might very well be the life saver you're looking for at some point in time," Was all Hanna had to say before they had gotten on the plane.

Abner was looking for her partner when he came into sight. He had blood all over him. That meant that who he had turned was gone now. That they would never be coming back to him. It was a good thing and a bad thing. He should never have made her. She was a mess to deal with and a pain to have around. But she was somebody when he needed her.

"What have you done?" Aldabella's partner yelled at him. Abner looked at him to see that he had felt something for his partner. Well, it seemed that no one was going to go for Hunter's rule anymore. He shrugged he his shoulders. "What do you mean you don't know? You killed her! I am going to kill you!" Her partner yelled at him and ran to him with tears in his eyes. He wasn't even close to him when Abner moved to caught him. This was going to get old really fast.

"May I have a name?" Abner said coldly. He wasn't going to try to calm him down.

"Bertley. Now let me go!" He demanded. This time trying to move out of Abner's arms.

"No. I am not going to let you go. I would stop moving before you make me do something that you don't want me to do. Now I am going to let you go off easy. I am not going to kill you. As I have said to many other Hunter's I do not fear you and I don't want to kill you. I hate the killing part of what I have become. I am going to let you go and I went you to go and tell everyone at your base camp to leave before I come and burn it to the ground. I would be smart to do that if they don't wish to die. I will be there tommorw. I will see you soon my friend," Abner said and left without a trace of even being there. Abner was going straight to his home here. He was going to need to pack up and leave here. It was a good thing that he didn't have much just enough to fit in a big backpack, as they were called now, making it easy for him to move what he wanted. He was going to go to that Hunter's base and kill every last one of them. It was getting on his bad side that they were coming after him. He had told that Hunter to do what had to be done. Now if that Hunter tells everyone else like Abner had said to then they would be saved. If not well them a lot of lives are going to be lost.

The next day Abner was at the Hunter's place in New York. Why they had chosen New York for their set up he didn't know. But Abner had brought bordes, nails, a hammer, gasoline, and a match. He was going to set this place alight with flames. Abner could here that people were inside moving around. It was clear that he had not told them.
