The Hunters Work

A girl is the most fearsome hunter there can be. It just so happens they can also be the cutest to the things that they have to kill. It is part of their, charm. They lure something in and then they kill them without a second thought but this older Hunter is the hardest of them all. But with one thing. She is falling for someone that is undead. Well, she thinks that he is alive. But a closer look at him tells her otherwise. But she is also falling for another Hunter. The rules of a Hunter are very clear, 1 do not fall in love for something that is dead, 2 do not fall in love with another hunter, and 3 kill every vampire and work as hard as you can. Who is she going to choose?

4. The Day of Training

"Cody, will you please leave me alone? We already did a case and now it is my turn to train. I haven't been training for a few days. I have to be kept up to the right standers," Hanna said punching a bag with Cody looking at her trying to convince her to take another case. She wasn't lying but she wasn't saying the whole truth either. She wanted to punch that look out of his eyes the moment she saw it. It wasn't right for it to be there. And it wasn't right that she felt the same way about it as well. That look is not supposed to be in either of their eyes. When they became a Hunter they signed away the right to feel anything but friendship towards one another.

"Fine but will you please talk to me or something? You have been acting weird since we got back from the case. I want to know if I did something wrong or said something wrong. You have never acted like this before," Cody said which in turn made her stop and stare at him. He looked worried about her. And she cared about the way he felt for her. It was wrong for it to be happening. But it wasn't like they could kill off every feeling that they had. They had to have some kind of feeling to be human. That was Hanna's rule. You had to be feel something to be human. You can't kill to be normal. And so they were not normal. They killed what had tried to kill them once before. Or they did that because if they didn't want to be with everyone else. That was why the Hunter's were there.

"All right stop looking at me like that and get ready for a dueling match. That is if you want to fight me?" She challenged, narrowing her eyes on what she knew would be a hard thing for Cody to resist and do. No one here would duel against her and never bothered to make her mad at them. This was the first time in a long time that she was mad at someone for something as silly as feeling something for her.  It was something that she wasn't used to.

Cody looked scared but backed off from then on. He left her to train by herself. It was clear then that his feelings were getting in the way. She would at some point have to tell him he needs to take another course. She went back to punching the bag in front of her with a fury that she shouldn't have. When she got tired of punching a bag she ran laps around the gym. It was normal for the new hunters to train and take whatever case they could get but it was not so much required to have the older hunters do it because it was programmed into them from the first year that they were here.

Hanna had put in her earbuds to block out all noise so she wouldn't hear anything or anyone. But a tap on her shoulder got her to spin around and made her act before she saw who it was. She had another hunter down before she even realized that they were just trying to tell her that it was time to go to bed.

"Sorry about that. I thought you were someone else," She said as she helped the other hunter up from the ground and pulled out her earbuds.

"Jesus, you're stronger than you look! No wonder everyone is afraid of you and thought I was crazy for wanting to tell you it was time to go to sleep," He said rubbing his stomach that Hanna had punched to get him down and arm that Hanna had twisted behind his back. Hanna looked a little bad but didn't feel that way. It had felt so good to do that. She nodded her head and left the training area so she could get some sleep.

In bed, she wasn't asleep like her eyes and mind were trying to tell her she should be. Something just didn't feel right about that case that they talked about a few days ago. She couldn't sleep and couldn't help but think what would have happened if she had taken that case. Hanna tried so hard to get to sleep but sleep was the last thing on her mind. Sleep was the least of her worrying fears. If she lost a third year the parents were going to get very mad at her. It was a good thing that his family had been in the Hunter's Work of a long time before Hanna had joined even.

Abner had gone right to sleep in a hotel that he had found. It wasn't much but then again his whole life hadn't been much after he was turned. His sire left him to rot after he disobeyed and ran off because he was tired of doing things for him. Abner had always been like that. His parent told him not to do something he would go and do it. He was told to do something by his sire and he did it because he was grateful that he was never going to die. But as time went on and Abner had gotten older and older. He was getting tired of doing his sire's work. Abner had been tempted to call the Hunters and have them take care of it for him but he couldn't do that. He liked his sire. He had no choice but he liked his sire somewhat.

Abner was old enough now that he was just simply tired of everything. Life, food, women, you name it. Something had to happen before he went to find the Hunter's and have them kill him. He was not going to have much fun unless his personality changed. If that happened then he was really damned. Abner was almost going to make another to replace his Blondie that was killed by the Hunter. But he didn't want to ruin anyone else life by doing that. If someone asked for it that was different. But if they didn't he wasn't going to place that kind of curse on someone else.

Abner knew that when he just started thing like this he should find somebody to keep him some company. It was just bad for him to be all alone a lot of the time. When he was alone his thoughts tended to drift far away and he would daydream about what it would have been like if his parents hadn't been killed. If he had not gone to find his death. The only thing is that if Abner could turn back time, which he can't, would he go back and try to warn the people that he had loved? Every time that he asked himself that he would always end up with the same answer. No. If it happened then it happened he wasn't going to mess with time and space like that. If he remember's right people have made movies about that kind of thing.

"I need to get myself, someone, to hang around. I can not just stay here and think. Maybe I could find myself a hobby to occupy me for a while. What would it be?" Abner thought out loud to himself. It was time, that he try something that would fill his time when he would be running away from things and trying to not be out of the normal.
