The Hunters Work

A girl is the most fearsome hunter there can be. It just so happens they can also be the cutest to the things that they have to kill. It is part of their, charm. They lure something in and then they kill them without a second thought but this older Hunter is the hardest of them all. But with one thing. She is falling for someone that is undead. Well, she thinks that he is alive. But a closer look at him tells her otherwise. But she is also falling for another Hunter. The rules of a Hunter are very clear, 1 do not fall in love for something that is dead, 2 do not fall in love with another hunter, and 3 kill every vampire and work as hard as you can. Who is she going to choose?

1. The First Day Off

"Well you have another job already Hanna," Cody said to Hanna who was not paying any attention to anyone.  She had just finished a job and was taking some time to calm down, doing her normal thing. Her head snapped up at the thought of another job that needed doing. She was the head leader of the Society. They called themselves, The Hunter's Work Society. They hunted anything that was there to hurt mortals like themselves. They were properly trained for this kind of thing and knew what they were doing at all times. Most of the Hunter's had to train for two years, and on their third year here they got to go on their first mission. In that time no one tells them what to do or how to do it unless it is waking them up and getting them training in the morning. The first years is just to train them and get them on every Hunter's work hours. The second year is to see if they can handle it and don't back out. And the third year is the part that most who are strong enough go through without a second though on what they were doing. After that, it was just taking a case or excepting one and going to go and do it.The first few years are the hardest because in the time the new Hunter's can't see their family if they have one.

"Sweet! So what is this job that is set up for me? And how come I wasn't told of this?" She asked him her eyes narrowing on him. When he shrugged she looked back down to her homemade, sharp stake. It was a thing that she liked to do. In her free time, she would make stakes for the other Hunter's. Most of them, if not all, have picked up on the fact that the stakes that they use are handmade and by one person. "How do you not know this? I thought that you all were trained better here than that. I was the one to train you. I know how you were trained and why don't you have this important information," She said not looking up at him to have to know that he was shrinking away from her. She was one of his best friends which were why when someone has to tell her that she has a  new case he is the one to tell her.

"Sorry Hanna. I didn't mean to. I was just told to go and get you so you could claim the case," Cody said as he calmed down from the shock of being told off. "You're supposed to meet them at the mess hall," He added hopefully. Hanna looked up at him questioningly. She could always tell when someone was lying to her."Alright fine! I thought that you might like this case. They said that anyone who wanted it to try could. They had said try so I thought that you would like to do it for them. And I am sure that it came from another Hunter's place somewhere because it also said that people who went for this case would never come back from it." Her eyes got wide. She knew from experience that if everyone tried it only a few would get it and then they wouldn't come back and they would give it to one person.

"Walk with me," She told him and stood up. He nodded his head and started to follow her as she leads the way to the Mess Hall. They didn't talk they only walked. Cody was her normal partner for all cases, no one else would have been her partner. If they knew her better they might have been but she had only allowed one person to come close to her heart after a bad thing had happened to her when she was little. She would always have him with her because of how good of friends they were, that and nobody seemed to ever want her as a partner.

"Okay, so the things name is Abner. Abner was made a son of the darkness. Not born. Abner is 555 years old. Abner has been seen around Colorado. Abner has been known to dye his hair different colors to get away but other than that he doesn't change at all," Was yelled by the informant who gathers our's cases for us. She was always helpful and good at getting information that we could us. They hadn't even entered the Mess Hall yet but they heard that coming out of it. They could even see how crowded it was.

"So who wants the case?" The Informat had yelled over the roar of noise that had kicked up after she had stopped talking for a minute to let them talk it over. Everyone was quiet for about a minute before Joe, one of the new hunters, called out ," I'll do it." And everything was noise again while Joe and his partner, who was a year older here than he was, were slowly making their way up to the stand where they would get the rest of the information.

"Oh well. I guess I don't get to do it then. I was just about to call out if no one took it," Hanna said as they went back to her room. She saw out of the corner of her eye that Cody looked sad about it. "What? Did you want to do that case?" She asked smiling at him. He looked at her shocked.

"What? And you didn't want to do that? So many people have been sent out to go do that case and no one ever comes back from tracking him down. They find him once and then they are killed the next moment with only their partner to come back and tell the news. I want to find him and bring him down. I want you to find him and bring him down!" Cody was yelling at her like a crazy person. She laughed at him doing so. She was the person to make calls for the cases. Cody was always the person to help her with them thought.

"Abner? Are you even listening?" Someone had called his name. He was shaken out of his thoughts by the female that had just walked up while he was listening to someone else conversation. He nodded once and went right back to listening to what the other's were saying.

"Are you sure that is who we are looking for?" Said a female voice behind him. He smiled at her. She was getting the hang of this Hunter business. If it wasn't for her then he would have been in action already.

"I am sure that it is him. I mean I can't see his face and all but his hair is what is giving him away. And who looks like they could wield a sword here other than him?" A male asked the female. Abner smiled again. In his time it was the weapon of choice. He had carried a sword with him at all times when he was out exploring. When his mother and father had been too busy to play with him they would let him go out into the woods with his sword and play so long as he kept the sharp end of the sword away from himself.

"You're not listing to Me, Abner! Your listing to them," The female in front of him said again shaking him out of his thoughts. He looked at her. He had made her and she was just a pest to have now.

"I could get rid of you very fast you know that. So go away and leave me alone," Abner said to her. She shrank back from him and turn on her heel looking mad as she walked away from him. Abner got stright back into what the Hunter's were saying, but they weren't talking anymore. He looked over his shoulder to see that one had followed the blond he had turned a while back.

The other was the female. She was looking right at him and heading strainht for him as well. She looked lovly to him. But she didn't look like herself. When a Hunter could look lovly and not have to do anything to themself then he would truly love them. The female had smiled at hima nd he smiled back. In turn she walked by him swaying her hips back and frouth trying to temp him to do something like follow her. Abner was hungry so he did follow her. Abner heard the skin on her mouth move when she had finally relized that he was behind her.

"I though that the file had said you were old? Clearly not old enough to not like the idea of sex I see," The Hunter smiled. She relzed her stake. Abner put his hands up in a surrounder motion.

"I though that this would be hard," The Hunter had said and tried to kill him. Abner's hand had stopped the stake in the air and tiwsted her hand around. Abner was holding her arms down to her side before she knew what was going on.

"May I have a name?" Abner breathed into her ear. He felt her shiver at his breath.

"My name is Aldabella. But everyone calls me Alda," She said pressing herself against him. He didn't move or bother to do anything. He was going to let her do her thing.

"What company do you work for, Aldabella?" Abner asked breathing into her ear again. He knew that this was what was making her talk to him.

"The Hunter's Work in New York," She said. He could have easliy just picked her brain for this information but he didn't want to be rude to her. He was of course going to have to kill her. It was in the Hunter's Work code not to fall for someone and something.

"Thank you, Aldabella. I am sorry for having to do this next thing but it would be for the best," He whispered and sank his teeth into her neck. He was draining her fast that way she didn't feel as much pain as she would if he was to do it slowly and draw it out.
