Through the Mist

You and I are exactly the same. We're two fans of Percy Jackson—we could be obsessed, or maybe we're not, but deep in our hearts we all know one sad truth: Percy Jackson does not exist.
Or does he?
Two mortal Percy Jackson fans find themselves thrown into the demigod world, which is amazing at first—but then trouble strikes.

1. Wait—I'm in a Book?

Percy's POV

My name is Percy Jackson. I'm a demigod, which you probably won't believe—or maybe you do. Before I begin my story, I'll give you some advice: Never trust the children of Calliope.

Annabeth and I were at Starbucks, enjoying the freedom of having no quests, no wars, and no demigod lives to worry about.

"Percy," Annabeth suddenly said, "look behind you."

I turned around and saw that on the table behind us a boy and a girl were staring at us and whispering. I glared at them. "What do you want?"

The girl blushed. "Sorry," she apologized. "It's just that you guys look exactly like Percy Jackson and Annabeth Chase."

I opened my mouth in confusion. "But—"

"What do you mean by that?" Annabeth interrupted.

They were obviously disappointed. "They're book characters," the boy told us. "They're from the Percy Jackson series."

Annabeth and I exchanged glances. "Could you tell us about them?" I asked. "I'm interested in this series."

The girl brightened. "Well," she began, "they're demigods, which means that they're the children of gods—you know, from mythology. Annabeth is the daughter of Athena, the Greek wisdom goddess, and her boyfriend is Percy, who's the son of Poseidon, the god of the sea.

"I'll spare you the details, but the first book is in Percy's point of view when he's twelve, when he's accused of stealing a god's power symbol. Basically, a war starts at the end of the book, and it continues until the fifth book.

"Then in the second series, there are seven main characters. Well," she decided, "I guess there are nine, counting Reyna and Nico. So basically there's another war, and terrible things happen to the seven and Nico and Reyna. Now the first book of the third series just came out!" she concluded.

"It's a great series," her friend said. "But if you get emotional, be prepared for a lot of crying."

Let's do it, Annabeth and I agreed silently. "Um, you probably won't believe me," I started, "but my name is Percy Jackson."
