15. Again

The ride was pretty quiet. He didn't say one word to me the whole time he was driving to my house. When we got there, he grabbed my hand and kissed it. “I wish I could take all this away and make you happy again. I really do.”
“I know.” I look up at my house. My mom's light is on, which means she knows I sneaked out, which means I'm in even more trouble.
Jack looks at the house too then back at me. “Do you want me to go with you?”
I shake my head. “That will make it worse.”
He looks at me a moment. I don't look back, I feel like I was going to cry because I know he knew what I was thinking and why I didn't want him to come in. I go to open the door but he stops me. “You're not going to tell them, are you?”
Without looking at him, I shake my head again. “I don't want to.”
He exhaled sharply. “Never mind, get out of my car.” he mumbled.
I look at him this time, in shock. “Jack..”
“Look, I-” he sighed. “You're only making this worse by keeping quiet about it.”
“This is none of your business.”
“Really? My girlfriends safety is none of my business. That's nice to know, I guess I've been doing it wrong then.”
I really wasn't sure what I was going to say to him. I didn't want to leave knowing he was thinking like this. I didn't want to leave on such an awful note.
“I... I need you to get out of my car now.”
“Why are you being like this?”
He doesn't answer. But he gets out, comes over to me and opens my side of the door.
I just look up at him a minute, not sure what to do. “Are you serious?”
“Oh my god, get out of my car!” he screamed. It was loud too.
I got chills down my spin, I've never heard him yell like that. I knew my mom was going to come out soon and sure enough, she did. I sigh and get out of the car when she comes out.
“I knew it. I knew you were going to sneak off.” she snapped, coming over to us.
Jack closed the side door and walked over to my mom and I, he didn't say a word. He just shoved his hands in his pocket and listen to my mom go on.
“And you, mister.” she pointed to him. “I thought you were responsible enough to look after my daughter, I know she told you she's grounded and you still chose to be with her. I liked you because I thought you respected my family enough to respect what goes on and that includes this.” she crossed her arms.
“Would you stop? He didn't do anything wrong.” I say.
“I'll deal with you in a second, young lady. Yes, he did do something wrong. He's with you at 2 in the morning, what in god's name were you two doing?”
I go to answer but she stops me.
“You know what? No, I don't wanna know because I'm sure I'm not going to like the answer. Do you have anything you have to say for yourself?” she turned to Jack again.
“I'm sorry, Ms. Perry. I really am.” he mumbled.
She sighed quietly. “Jack, listen to me carefully. I don't want you around.” she said calmly
    “Mom!” I yelled.
She held up her hand. “I don't want you with my daughter, I don't you with either of them, I don't want to see again, do you understand me?” she was still calm.
    He nods. “Yea, ma'am.”
“Are you kidding me? Mom, you can't do this.” I shake my head.
“Oh you don't think so? I'm your mom. I can do what I want.”
Jack started walking to the driver side but I follow him. “Just go inside, please? You're making this way too hard.”
“I'm making this hard? You're acting like this doesn't bother you.”
“Of course it bothers me but I can't go against what your mom says.”
    “Yes, you can.”
“Alright, that's enough, Liz, get in the house. Jack, I suggest you go home now.” mom called from the porch.
He gets in the car and I lean down.
He sighed and looked at me.
    “I love you.” I mumbled.
He didn't say it back, he didn't say anything. He just started his car back up and drove away.
“I hate you, I hope you know that.” I growl, going in the house, mom was still outside but I slam the door behind me.
“What had gotten into you, lately?” she followed.
    “What are you talking about?”
“That. I'm talking about that. The-the attitude, the ignoring my rules, the misbehaving.”
I scoff. “The misbehaving? Mom, what am I; 10? I can do whatever I want.”
“No, you can't. You still have another year under my roof and I my rules.”
“Well your rules fucking suck!” I scream.
“Hey, that is no way to be talking to your mother.” Chris comes in from the kitchen.
“You're not my father!” I yell. “God! What is with everyone telling me what to do and telling me how to live my life?!”
“You were out at 2 in the morning.” Chris said.
    “Shut up!”
“Go to your room, I'm done with you.” my mom snapped.
I'll be happy to. When I get there, I slam that door too but this time harder and I hear a few picture frames fall from the wall and down the stairs, I hear them shatter when they hit the bottom of the steps to the hard-wood floor. My mom screamed up the stairs for me to come pick them up but I just ignore her and curse myself under my breath. I should have just stayed home with Nash like I was suppose to, like mom and Jack wanted me to. It wouldn't have broken up with Jack... well, mom wouldn't have broken up with Jack for me...
