Jewel just finishes telling them her story when the door breaks open and the men that took Melody are back. Jewel runs to her room and locks the door. As soon as we hear the click the men sit down on our sofa as if they are coming over for tea.
“Why are you guys here?” Faith asks with a glare.
“Orders,” One burps and I realize that they are kinda drunk. I take advantage of that.
“You took one of the girls out of our room a few nights ago and she had a purple gem. I think there was some kind of misunderstanding,” I say trying to keep my face stiff.
“Oh…” The second one starts. He wobbles a bit as he stands up. “So sorry, miss. What was the gal’s name?”
“Melody.” Liberty says. The man pushes a button on his watch and says “Melody to… what room is this?”
“62,” Sydney replies.
“Melody to room 62 from confinement,” He says into his gem and out of nowhere Melody comes running into me and hugs on to me like it’s for dear life.
“Thank you,” I say with a smile. “And I think your needed down the hall in 51.”
“Ok?” The third one says and they all stand up and walk out the door like nothing happened. Well more like staggered out. I look over as another room magically appears next to Jewel’s room. I take her over to her room and lay her down as she falls asleep. I knock on Jewel’s door.
“GO AWAY!!!!!!” She screams through the door. “I. AM. NOT. LEAVING!”
“They’re gone Jewel. It’s me.” I whisper. She opens the door and smiles a ‘whoops I am sorry’ smile.
“Melody’s here,” I say with a smile.
“WAIT WHY!” she screams. “Why would you bring her here?!”
I think for a second and then realize that it might be the real Melody.
She is here. In danger. And I can’t stop it. Oh crap. I think and slap my head. I walk out of Jewel’s room and walk into Melody’s with the question on the tip of my tongue.
“Melody, how do you know who Jewel is?” I ask.
“OMG! Seriously?! I have known her since we were born! Of course I…” Her sentence trails off. We stare at each other for a second and a see a spark in her eye. She recognizes me! I think.
“Who does?” I hear in my head.
“I’ll tell you guys when I get out there, k?” I say back into my head hoping they were still listening.
“Trinity!” Melody screams and jumps off the bed and into my arms.
“I knew I at first recognized you but they did something to my brain! OMG I can’t believe you’re even here!”
“I can’t believe you’re here,” I say concerned. “We don’t know if it’s safe yet.”
“Well there is only one thing we can do,” Melody replies.
“What?” I ask.
“Wait and see!” She says and drags me out of her room.
I see a calendar on the way out, the one back in her old room. It’s the 25th of December.
